A maiden is a ball or over without a run being conncedded of it of the bat .This means that if there was a leg bye or bye in the over the over would still be considered a maiden over if all the other balls had no runs off the bat.

If there is no runs in one over of the bowler, that over is called maiden over. If he also take wickets.. i.e called maiden wicket over.
Also, if the batsman scored his first century.. i.e also known as maiden century at that time. Same way Maiden half century.
