I live in Texas and each time I call my attorney's office to speak with him they tell me that I need to set up an appointment to see him. Is that true? I mean i know thats probably their office policy but is it legal?

It is legal, but unethical. Let your attorney know that you will contact the Bar Association if she doesn't return your call within 5 days.

Do you honestly think there would be a law about that? I see why you need a lawyer. And most attorneys are very busy if they're good ones so setting up an appointment tis just a sure way to make sure they see you. Do you go to your doctor appointments by phone? They need to see you in person to get serious matters done. If you just want a status, state that when you call. Then the secretary can call you back and tell you.

Yes, it's legal for anyone to run their business any way they see fit, within their contractual obligations. You're also free to stop using his services and find an attorney with a more liberal office policy.

Oh geeze..all lawyers do that even my cousin does it to the family -just call the lawyer again and tell him if he doesn't return you call by a reasonable time....you want your deposit back and he/she is fired and a new lawyer is taking over ...I promise you will get results and I really would switch lawyers because the newer lawyers will treat you better..good luck!

It may not be illegal but it is a good reason to change attorneys.
