Other providers of the same goods or services that the business offers.

That depends upon if the product or service is a requirement for human survival (food related) or a luxury item. If it's a luxury item (something that someone doesn't have to buy), then the competition would include not only other providers of this but EVERYTHING else that a person might do with their money. In other words, if your business is a jewelry business and you are sellingn $1000 rings, then your competiton would include everything else that someone could do with that amount of money.

Business isn't simple.
