I truly hope you are just a troll trying to get a rise out of people because everyone on the face of the earth knows how horrible and harmful both are to an unborn baby. What's next...you'll say you're taking drugs, too? There are so many people who are unable to conceive or have lost babies due to other causes and you joke like this? Please come up with a new style of questions.

1/2 glass of red wine every 3-4 weeks would be moderately safe and excusable, nothing more. Smoking on the other hand is not excusable. Even if quiting cold turkey is a shock on your body you should have weened off the cigarettes by now. Sounds irresponsible to me. Women in Europe drink wine regularly in small amounts and only 1-2 times a weeks so it's not true that any alcohol amount will defect your baby, but this is america so 1/2 glass every 3-4 weeks would be realistic.

There's no way to know how much alcohol is safe, because there are real ethical problems with conducting research on it. A glass of red wine on occasion probably isn't going to hurt (I am 28 weeks along, and I indulge in small amounts of good red wine once in awhile, but certainly not daily or even weekly).
As for the cigarettes, try to stop, even if you start to cut down every day. Most problems can be alleviated if you quit by the fifth month. In any case, Dr. Spock's website does say that if you truly can't quit, absolutely reduce the amount you smoke to less than ten cigarettes a day. However, know that you could have problems at delivery from cutting off oxygen to the baby. Heavy smokers have been known to lose their babies shortly after birth, directly attributable to smoking.

From what I've read, there is no "safe" amount of alcohol during pregnancy, even the occasional glass of wine isn't known to be safe. You risk having a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome. And with the smoking you risk having a low birthweight baby. But drinking and smoking in combination can be really bad, knock it off before you do permanent damage to your baby. It's not easy to quit smoking (I know, I have struggled with it and I'm 15 weeks along) but c'mon, you know it's bad enough to be smoking but your drinking too?? Get your s*hit together and knock it off!

You need to stop both NOW! the amount of alcohol that can cause fetal alcohol syndrome has yet to be determined. It could just be a single glass in a certain time frame of your pregnancy. Why would you even want to take that chance? also, I'm sure you KNOW that smoking is bad for you, so its bad for the baby. I dont understand your reasons but you need to get help and stop ASAP.

No amount of alcohol is considered safe, and smoking is really bad, too. Please look at the photos and read the facts on the birth defects that can be caused by drinking and smoking during pregnancy. Your baby can be preemie, or stillborn, or have cleft lip, cleft palate, clubfoot, limb defects, some types of heart defects, gastroschisis (an opening in the muscles of the abdomen that allows the intestines to appear outside the body), and imperforate anus (there is no opening from the intestines to the outside of the body to allow stool or gas to be passed).
If that doesn't scare you straight, then God help you!

No amount of alcohol has been deemed "safe" during pregnancy. This can and often does result in a condition known as FAS, fetal alcohol syndrome. Your child can be born with physical abnormalities and also mental deficiencies. STOP NOW and pray that it's not too late!!!!

No alcohol is safe. but if you continue this, your baby will be more likely to be born with fetal alcohol syndrome, flat nose, small head, etc. look it up. Your already past 8 weeks, which are the most critical weeks for the babies development. you need to get some help with your addictions or else you sure as hell dont love your baby!

smoking = No
drinking = No hard liquor, some doctors say it is ok to drink a small glass of wine every few days. Some say avoid alcohol altogether. Others say one glass of wine or champagne is ok once a week.

Right know is the most critical part of pregancy, you should not drink or smoke. Toward the end as long as you were having a healthy pregancy they say a glass of wine here or there would not hurt the baby.
