I like a lot of it with the exception of certain songs and artists. You just have to know how to decipher right from wrong. Because 50 Cent says to "shoot a n*gga", it doesn't mean to go do it. But young people especially kids are very impressionable and artists should take responsibility as role models once they become famous. That means setting better examples for the youth. Horror flicks and violent video games should be blasted the same way rap music is. Oh and Eminem and Paul Wall are white and wear the baggy clothes, curse and Paul Wall even has his own line of oversized clothing as well as a grill collection. So rap doesn't just influence blacks, it influences the masses who listen to it.

I'm too old to perceive it as a form of music. If I were 15 I would be in to it, because my friends were, and my parents hated it. This would show them that I am not just their kid, I was an adult who was capable of making my own decision as to what was good music and what was noise.

I'm not a kid anymore so it just sounds like the noise I heard when I worked in a factory that had some noisy machines and some African American employees who used to speak loud so they could hear each other talk. If I have to listen to rap, I feel I should get paid at least $10/hr. to do so.

Some is good some is bad personally I like hip-hop more than rap. I don't want to hear about how some guy most people have never heard of has money out the rear and has 50 girls a day, frankly that kind of rap makes me sickened.

I say, "to each his own." If you like rap, then enjoy it. No one has any business telling anyone else what they can or cannot create/and or listen to. However, I do think parents should monitor what their children are listening to. Most parents don't know the adult content that some of the rap music contains. Children are being exposed to adult content without any guidance, and this is not a good thing.

I have nothing against the "sound" of the thing.. however, I do not listen because of the language and the message. It just seems like the lowest form of dialog. I find it repulsive. Clean rap might have had a chance with me, but all I initially heard was "c"rap!

i agree with what you say, to some point, i think its demeaning, but it sells, and many of the buyers are african-american, os they dont seem to mind, and i think it does send the signal that the life is cool, thers a thin line between fashion and style, and acting it out. that said, i like rap music, i let my kids listen to most of it.

Some of it is crap. But some isn't. Some of the rappers are very talented. And some of the songs are stupid and about gangs and what not but not all. Anyone looks dumb in baggy pants.

I think it's ugly (most of the time) and what they do for attention is ugly too. Most of the music and TV these days are corrupting everyone's minds, so it's not just rap.

But we all do things like that but in different forms and degrees. Pride is absolutely the worst sin that's plaguing us!

I think rap is a pwoerful way to express yourself, but many fools use it poorly. I can rap, from time to time, and I tend to make it meaningful and interesting. No, I'm not black, but I can still rap for ten minutes without suggesting violence or throwing out a profanity.
