You need to move the hamster to another room. Removing the wheel will cause bar chewing, which is not good for their teeth and can lead to broken teeth. Try using a silent wheel to see if that helps, however they can break easier. Our one hamster has broken 2 of them in 6 months. The other wheels are over a year old and still being used. My adult son has 18 cages of rats and hamsters in his room with one wheel that won't stop squeaking no matter what he does. He got use to it and now has trouble sleeping if their not running them. It would be near impossible to turn a nocturnal animal into a day animal. One thing that can help is to keep your room dark during the day and turn on a light near the hamster at night, but that still may not work. We tried this before and it didn't work. He has a total of 15 Syrians, 2 Winter White dwarfs, 8 Russian dwarfs, 2 adult rats and 7 baby rats in his room. I have even become accustomed to falling asleep hearing them on the wheels, my room is next to his. There can be 10 or more wheels going at one time.
Like I said moving him to another room may be your only solution if you can't get use to him on the wheel or buy a silent wheel. They are a bit more expensive then the regular ones.

Hamsters are, by nature, nocturnal. While they may be somewhat adaptable in that they may be able to sleep a little during the daylight hours, they will, ultimately, behave according to their natural traits. If it is the wheel, take it out. I recently read in an article about hamsters that wheels and the balls are not good for them anyway. It said that they damage their backs and internal structure. If it is chewing on the wires of the cage, get a glass (aquarium) home for it.

they are nocturnal. They sleep all day and are awake at night. You will get used to it and will def learn to ignore it. I've had 3 hamsters and after a couple of weeks, you can't hear it anymore. It seems like a normal thing to you and your body and ears adjust,

No..they're nocturnal. You have to do research before you get an animal. If they were in the wild they would be out hunting all night and sleeping during the day...don't wake him/her while she is sleeping during the day...
if you have to, just move tthe cage at night so you can't hear it...our lil guy has spent a few nights in the bathroom : )

no, they are NOCTURNAL. take the wheel or other "toys" that may be keeping you up at night out of his cage, or move him to another room while you are sleeping. If you take him out and play with him a lot during the day he will sleep some at night but he wont sleep through it.

He's nocturnal, there's nothing you can really do about that. Put his cage in a different room at night so he can play and you can sleep. Don't just leave the cage in your room and take away his toys though. Imagine how bored you would be in a cage with nothing to do!

I was going to actualy do this for my science project. What I read is during the day keep the hamster in a dark cupboard (simulating night time which is when he is awake) and during the nigh keep him in a well light room (simulating day time which means he sleeps) eventually you could stop putting him in those places and eventually his sleep pattern will adapt....hope this helps

If you can trick into thinking night is day and day is night. They are noctrunal animals and get real busy at night. Try to take the noisy toys out when you go to bed. Try to wear him out in one the hamster ball he can run all around the floor in..

Nope, they are nocturnal animals and there is nothing you can do to change that. You can't take it's wheel out because he needs the execise. Move him to another room.
