My husband has not been at home and will have stayed out of town for another one year. Because no one drives his car, his car was dead after his gone for a period of time. Do I need to recharge the car and run often to keep it going when the battery died? If I do not recharge the battery, the battery will be un-rechargeable? And I need to buy a new battery when he comes back? What are harms to the car if its battery dies out and is not to be recharged?

In your case, you should start and run the car every so often. As for the battery, you can buy a trickle charger and it will keep the battery at full level and be ready to go when he gets home.
There are more reasons to drive the car. The tires may develope a flat spot, the AC seals will dry out and then the AC won't work. The oil will drain out of the upper engine parts and that will cause increases wear. Things that don't move as often as they should could become stuck with out lubrication and again cause more problems. While I'm at it, you may want to add some gas stabilizer to the tank to help preserve the fuel.

Try driving it around the block once a week anyway, that should keep tings going.

unless the battery said do not not recharge this battery. which i never heard before ,ask a friend or relative to use jumper cables to start your car first if that works drive the car some where for an hour to re charge, if this does not work charge your battery over night then try it, if that don't work buy a new one, and make sure you run the car every few days, or even the the cables to your battery may be lose, or corroded

The battery is the least of your concerns, the fuel in the gas tank will also get contaminated and the oil will turn to sludge and the grease will dry up and the tires will rot. So to answer your question, yes drive the car at least every 2 weeks and keep things in top shape so when he comes home he will not have a major repair bill. Good luck

You should never let a car sit for more than a couple of months. Sitting is worse than putting excessive miles on a car. The brakes will start to rust and deteriorate, the exhaust will start rusting from moisture laying inside of it, I could keep going on about all the damage that could happen but the bottom line is you should put a couple hundred miles on it every month. this will also keep the battery charge up.
