The UN refuses to recognize it as genocide. I think that is because they do not want to get involved. If they defined it as genocide they would be obligated to try and stop it.
The only real effect right now is that thousands of Christians are being murder by radical Muslims. I think it is setting a precedent for the UN to sit by and look the other way when people are being killed just because they do not want to be involved.

in the course of the last 20 years, desertification in western Sudan had an increasing form of pitted traditionally nomadic Arab tribes in competition for water and arable land with the so-stated as "black African" tribes of Dafur. The ruling elite in Khartoum used this underlying rigidity to its income even as it employed militias from the ethnic Arab tribes to weigh down rebellious "black African" militias in Darfur. Even as we talk, because the UN plans for a conceivable peacekeeping stress in Darfur, the shortage of water sources in western Sudan grants a huge logistical challenge. If the stress ever receives off the floor, water ought to both be imported, in the different case extremely some water bores must be drilled to keep up the peacekeepers.
