I don't know whether you'd consider this philosophy. I think it would since early philosophers attempted to describe the shape and structure of the universe.

Two of my favourite books are "Flatland" by Edwin Abbott (written in 1884) and "Hyperspace" by Michio Kaku (1994). Both books attempt to explain the higher dimensions of the universe - meaning the dimensions beyond the known three - length, width, and height. It was the most amazing thing I learned.

My favorite philoshopher is Schopenhauer. His commentaries on society and the individual still hold true today. He has given me great insight into myself and the actions of others. Also, he is the first western philospher to incorporate eastern thought patterns into his work. Alot people say he was very pesimistic, I do not fill that way, in fact, for me, he was liberating.

My main philosophical staple is existentialism. After reading Schopenhauer and Nietzsche as well as my own personal experiences I attained an existential outlook on life, though it wasn't until I became famaliar with existential philosphy that I realized there was a term for it. I love the prospect of being alone in a godless universe. The angst was not there for me, only relief.

My favorite philosopher has to be Thomas Hobbes. Although many feel that he is a second rate philosopher, I am really intrigued by his thoughts on politics and hierarchy. I truly believe everyone should read the Leviathan at least once in their life time, it is very important in shaping one's view on the role of politics and leaders.

Me. Because my thoughts are the engine which enables this vessel (my mind, body & spirit) to navigate through my journey (this life). I don't share my favorite theories & philosophies because they are useless & meaningless to anyone else. Each person needs to get their own engine situated and the fuel to run it.

Socrates is my personal favorite. What made Socrates great to me was the fact that he was willing to admit that he did not know things. To me the greatest philosophers are not those that say "this is...that is" they are the ones who are willing to admit that they don't know, but seek knowledge through asking questions.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone - The creators of South Park.

No seriously! If you read between the lines of their cartoons, they're the most brilliant and insightful satirists of our generation I think.
