I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 black tetras, 2 male guppies, 3 tuxedo paties, a pecostamos and a chinese algae eater. The temperature is around 78 right now due to ick infestation. I have the new goldfish in a quarentine tank right now and will be for the next week or two until ick is all the way gone and I clean out the tank. My question is what is the highest temperature my goldfish can be in? My other fish like the water kinda warm but will tolerate lower temps. after treatment is done.

Your gold fish will do better the cooler you keep the tank. Given your other fish I would suggest a temp of about 70F.
BTW, the ich treatment will go much more quickly at a temperature of 88-90F and all of those fish can hadle that temperature.

I'm not totally understanding your question. Are you keeping your goldfish seperate from the other fish due to the other fish having ick? First of all, I wouldn't put goldfish with other fish. They put off much more ammonia and should be in a tank with their own kind. As far as the temp., goldfish are very hardy and can withstand various temps. but I wouldn't have them in water higher than the 80 degrees. My opinion. You can always call a pet store that deals specifically fish and their issues.

i like goldfish for the reason that they do grow to be somewhat super and by some skill "smarter" than maximum fish. they have interplay extra conveniently with human beings than small tropical fish many times do and in positive condition extra conveniently into the class of "puppy". 2 small goldfish might artwork in that tank somewhat properly for a sturdy whilst. in case you elect for some thing extra interesting, although, i might recommend getting some livebearers. A trio or 2 each and each of platies and guppies. they'll without delay populate the tank in case you have some flora to offer the fry hide and it relatively is often interesting to work out the features of the countless mothers and fathers being handed alongside. The livebearers might get alongside properly with a shoal of cory cats as properly. it would no longer sound like an quite dramatic set-up, even even though it relatively is an decrease priced set of fish which would be waiting to deal with commonest aquarium issues (ich, questionable water high quality, etc) with few casualties.

Depending on the type of gold fish you have. Keeping goldfish in constant temperatures above 75 leads to health problems with your fish. Ranchus, Orandas, Bubble Eyes can remain in temperatures constant at 78. They are the only ones. It is better at 75.
Here is more info on your goldfish.

Temperature is not the only reason goldfish should not be mixed with tropical fish, behaviour and aggression is also a factor. You should really get another tank for the goldfish and keep all of them properly. Technically both your tropicals and goldfish will do fine in the mid 70's.

Please do not mix goldfish with tropical fish. I used to work at an aquarium store and any expert will advice you not to. Keep them separate, especially if it a fancy goldfish. Goldfish have different preferences in water temperature, ph level, and diet.
