I'm going to guess you mean for live bearers like guppys, platys, swordtails or mollies. Plastic or live plants will work just fine. The main thing to remember is to use fine leafed plants that will give the babies tons of hiding places.

All of the above babies will eat finely crushed flake food from the day they are born.

If you mean some other type of fish, it would really depend on the type, so if that's the case please add some details.

Hope that helps

when u first get a fish and tank, put the rocks in first, then the center peice (a aquarium rock) or something then get normal tank trees from a pet store and if u have fish who need a light get a heated lamp and a filter and normal food. but for a while untill the babies are older keep them in a ceprate tank like a breeding tank so they dont get eaten by the other fish.

The best way to set up the tank depends on what fish you want to keep. What you feed them depends on what fish you want to keep (though flakes or pellets should be the main staple). What you need for breeding depends on what fish you want to keep, though you would generally need a heavily planted tank to getsome of the fry to survive without seperating them.

Some particularly good plants for livebearer babies, are Anacharis, Aponogetan (my babies LOVE to rest in the leaves of these), Amazon Swords, and anubias. Good luck :)

I have been growing baby brine shrimp to feed my babies.. they love it, along with Hikari first bites baby fish food.

Are you setting up a fresh or salt water tank? it takes time to get the water levels set up. you are going to have to get water testing kits. once you let your tank mature for a little while then start putting fish and vegetation in the tank

Check with your pet store as it really depends on the type of fish you are buying, or if they're not fish, fakes can be better for high swimming fish, pellets for algae eaters, as they need to sink to the bottom for them to be able to feed on them easily... although the fish might steal it before it sinks...another problem!
