here's how it started, but i may get the exact dates off by a bit...

on friday october 13th 1398, the knights templar were betrayed by the king of france and rounded up and arrested.

the knights were remarkably wealthy, powerful and trusted by nobility and peasants alike.

it was regarded as a remarkable betrayal that i believe had the pope's blessing.

the knights were actually the world's first bankers - a need that arose out of nobility traveling to the holy lands during the crusades. a noble or wealthy person could leave a bunch of treasure with the knights templar in france and then along the way, take some out of other knights locations along the way or in the holy land as they fought.

in the process of this the knights made lots of money, and lots of nobles and the vatican got to owing them lots of money.

that's why they were betrayed, and then tried and executed.

ever since, friday the 13th has been regarded as an unlucky day.

The history of the number 13 is that when Christianity was first starting to take over the world it formed the idea 13 was bad. The reason being witch's coven had 13 members, and they worshiped the 13 full moons of the year.

Christianity used fear to control and wipe out a way of belief....and along with it came the belief that 13 was bad.

Actually I've been told that 13 is a lucky number. But it's not really lucky or unlucky. It's really what we believe in. If you truly believe it to be unlucky then you will connect a bad incident with the number. If someone dies at 1313 hours (military time) then one might believe it was from the unlucky number 13...

I'm not sure. Just look at the one dollar bill. There is 13 levels on the pyramid, there is 13 stars about the eagle, the eagle holds 13 arrows, there is 13 leaves on the olive branch. Seems pretty lucky to me.

For some it may not be lucky but for me it is lucky.
I started on my first job on 13th day of the month.
My first ride out of my country for job-abroad was on
13th day of the month.
I was born on 13th day of the month.
I got married on the 13th day too.

If this number is unlucky for some then its their luck.
