The Oceanic crust is younger and composed of denser more mafic materials. (Example: Basalts)
The Continental crust is older and composed of lighter more felsic materials. (Example: Granites)
Both crustal types are part of Earth's lithosphere and are affected by tectonic activity.

The continental is on the land surface, the oceanic is on the ocean's surface. They can be combined as oceanic-continental.
