Who knows what will be hot in 1 year??? Unless you pick accounting. With all the Sarbanes Oxley requirements and compliancy audits, you can be guaranteed a job as an accountant.

Hi, I work in Human Resources. The first question you need to answer is how will you come to the US. The government doesn't allow foreign nationals to work here, just because they want to. You will have to qualify for one of the visa programs offered here. If you want to work in business, then the visas you'd require for that have to be employer sponsored and there is a cap. In fact the cap for our main type of business visa, the H1B, has already been met for 2008. So I don't see you coming withing a year. Some industries are heavier recruiters of foreign nationals than others. IT is one of them and you seem to be leaning in that direction. My main advice to you, since you sound like you don't yet have a field of business, is to establish a job in your own country and see if any transfers to the US are available through that. Otherwise, you will at least be able to build business contacts that may lead to a job offer here. You will have to do some investigating to find out how and when you could legally come here and that may lead you to the right field.

I suggest you start reading the Wall Street Journal. You can find it online.

Business Week is also an excellent source of data. Again, try on line.
Good luck.
