Then there wouldn't be any commercial vehicles and it would be very difficult to ship goods. If there are no buses then people who don't have cars won't be able to get around. Most environmentalists would rather have 22 people taking the bus than 1 person driving a Hummer, how about you?
Back in the day when the majority of cars were gas guzzling boat-like vehicles the air war in fact cleaner than it is now. And there weren't even any emmissions laws back then!
It takes more energy and causes more pollution to produce one hybrid car than a single Hummer will use in it's "lifetime".
Also, there is no such thing as global warming. It is just a popular "urban myth".

the only intelligent way to save the earth is to control the population. by bringing the population down to a earth sustainable level we will need to have world wide population levels at approx 1948 to1953 levels with 1950's discipline /respect for ourselves and each other, a higher standard of morality and modern technology this is possible but i do not believe for an instant that that the world will go for it everyone wants to take not give. and yes virginia with world population at these levels we can have our suv's lawn mowers' and rv's all we have to do is find a reliable alternitive fuel and maintain a negative population growth this can be done with tax incentives and mass sterilization [will you submit to this?] don't blame the cars or detroit for the worlds problems we must blame ourselves and our own selfish choices

I'll tell you what.....Give up your Computer, Television, hot water, coast to coast jet travel, microwave, 3rd world sweatshop made Che T-shirt, and the CO2 spewing car YOU drive and I'll THINK about giving up the S2000.
Better yet...since there are 6 BILLION people spewing out CO2, that's 3 billion more than just 40 years ago....why not ask people to stop crapping out kids and thereby reduce the overall production of CO2, since the rise in CO2 levels Parallels the increase in population?
lol Isn't as Politically correct asking people to stop breeding like rabbits as it is giving up their cars is it?

How about tax breaks for 30MPG+ cars, and no taxes on anything getting 40+MPG. Incentives work best.

Then delivery vehicles would be illegal, your groceries, gas, and all consumables would become very expensive. Plus, how are you going to enforce such a law? Re-think this and come from a different direction.

Let the market decide. When the price of gasoline gets high enough, cars/trucks will get more fuel efficient.

First to the previous poster. What do you do about this: http://www.goodadvicepress.com/Family/8kids_01.jpg
Do you buy a cargo van with minimal safety protection and rear wheel drive? I live in northern indiana, we get snow in spring... should i not be able to buy an suv for my familys protection... oh i know what you want to do... you just want to ban 2 people from driving an suv... why dont you buy them a new car, so when the family isnt with them, they can drive that.. or better yet, buy them 2 cars, a car they can drive when the family isnt with them, and a car that they can drive in the winter time when family isnt with them.
And here ya go new friends qr, you said there should be exceptions: who gets exceptions? semi owners? so would the owner of this be an exception? its a 4 door semi with a truck bed... or would that not be an exception, and only if your trailer has 6 axels should you be an exception. we could ban semis from not driving without trailers! we could ban school buses from driving without students!
http://www.marketingshift.com/images/internationalSUV-7300cxt.gif
so we should all be forced into buying only efficient cars? **** having choices, we should all be required to by one car! Lets just change the countries name to north korea! show me a 'green' car that has good performance, good gas mileage, doesnt look like the designer fell asleep during the drawing process, and is affordable.
I dont want to drive any of these 'green' cars:

Sounds like a good idea to me. Seems like most people that drive SUVs and other large vehicles only have one person in them. Seems like a waste of gas and money to me. They are using more gas, which is unnecessary since they do not need a giant car to only haul themselves around most of the time. Since they are being selfish by driving around in their big 'boats,' it costs everyone else more money because gas prices rise. It's all about supply and demand. More gas is needed while less gas is being supplied to us. Since these big vehicles gulp down more gas than more economical cars, it causes the rest of us to pay more. Go ahead and ban them. I'd be happy to see ugly vehicles like the Expedition and the Tahoe gone for good.
