it is the actual tower that screams because I've tried turning the speakers off and the sound still persists.

It must be that your fan's bearings are broken so they're having a hard time working smoothly. Open the case and see if anything is touching the fans and if they move around freely.

If its the actual tower then it could be your harddrive locking up or a fan freezing up. Cant really tell without more detail. Hope that helps.

Fan failure is the most likely cause, it could also be a lead fouling the fan blades. It is possible that the hard drive or CD ROM drive is failing.

Open it up and see.

You might have too many programs/files on your computer.If you do then delete those that are least significant.Or your computer might be a bit old.If so then if you can change it.If none of the above apply then go and get it checked.

If it's also running really slow, it's probably the hard drive locking up. I'd recommend backing up important data now!
