It's truly my dream job and we're moving to Orlando next year. I have cashier (2 years), customer service (2 years), and seamstressing (3 years) experience. I'm not overly worried about the pay because I know the benefits they offer are incredible. I'm worried about the hours. It seems like you need to be available 24/7 to work for Disney and I like my 8 hours of sleep at night. Are the hours really crazy? Thank you!!

Yes, I was a long-time Disney employee.

You need to have 24/7 availability to get hired...however, most managers in the company understand that you're a human being, and are actually pretty good about scheduling requests as long as they get them in time.

The hours aren't ALL that crazy, but you do have to expect to be "working while others play." That means on most holidays, you'll be working. That means you'll work Grad Nites and Special Events.

When I finally left the company, I had no idea what to do on holidays...because I had always worked every holiday.

You'll get your eight hours of sleep, alright...but you may not get them when you're used to getting them.

It IS a good company to work for, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, given the opportunity. If you want more info from my experience, feel free to email me (link on profile).

Best of luck! You'll love it.

Im currently a Disney Cast Member. Disney is an excellent company to work for and they are always looking for new cast members. Based on the experience you have you will most likely start off in a Merchandise role and can work your way up from there. The work hours really depend on your work status, seniority, and role. For the most part, the schedules are fairly flexible if you specify well in advance, however you must expect and be able to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.

I recommend you call the Disney Job Line at 407-828-1000 for more information and speak to a Casting Agent who can give you more information and schedule an interview for you. Once you get to Orlando you can also visit the Disney Casting Center in person to apply and interview.

Good Luck!

I was a cast member in transportation-drove the monorails. the benefits are awesome. you're not on call. you have set hours. some parts of the park do have overnight shifts. you need to be ready to work whatever they give you to start with.
