Naturally colored hemp twine (used for jewelry making and such) bought in any local craft dept. to be colored with regular fabric dye (like RIT brand) ... possible or no?

It can, but you may want to bleach it first because the color on top of the natural will be dingy. Good luck!

frequently i buy at thrift stores and have made big money on some bits and do by form myself as well things i bought for me- a buffalo leather jacket for $30 est. retail $480, a suede coat for $50 worth $250 but the best items i bought from a thrift store was a chanel leather handbag and prada leather clutch bag i sold to my tutor at college having spent $200 on them sold to her for $4,000

I'd clean it with acetone also to make sure you remove any possible wax like coatings. do this OUTSIDE with no sparks. Just coil your rope in a bucket and dump the acetone on it and swirl a couple times them dump it in a tin can to evaporate. do this a couple of times

Don't know why it wouldn't work...just follow directions..however if you want .. be sure and let them soak for awhile to get a true/better color.

yes, but it wont be as bright as the color on the label since you are starting from tan rather than white.
