If the light comes on and stays on it is usually recommended to drive the vehicle through three normal tank cycles( i mean to fill up the car three times and drive as normal) after burning three tanks of fuel and the light still stays on that means you have an emissions problem of some sort. Not really that big of a deal and you are likely to be able to continue driving the vehicle for many miles and years to come. When the light begins to flash that is when there is a dire problem and you need to have the engine checked out as soon as possible. Do not continue to drive the vehicle with the check engine light flashing!. Usually an auto parts store will have a free service to plug into your car and check the code and be able to tell you what the problem is. If you can get over the light being on just leave it be. not too much to worry about.

The easy answer here is to say that you left the gas cap off and the computer set a fault code for the fuel vapor system. That happens all the time. If that is what it is, the light will go out by itself when the computer passes this circuit a couple of times in a row. It is not the type of gas you put in unless you are running on contaminated fuel. Best thing to do is to get the PCM scanned to see which code has set. This is an indication of the circuit you will have to chase through. There are hundereds of codes so that is all I can say for now. Ask another question when you get the code. Good luck.

ok face it the ride is 10 yrs. old and you have the light ON and it sounds to me that you have an oxygen sensor gone bad or it might be that the catalytic converter is melted down from that premium fuel you induced into the petrol tank---- most of the time the "check engine light" comes on when an o2 sensor is bad --take your car to the muffler shop for a check-up ( if you got a problem in the exhaust system you also are losing gas mileage and the correction will save you money in the long run.................

If the check engine light is on, take it to a technician to have it properly diagnosed. It could be something unrelated. Try putting some fuel injection cleaner in the tank as well.

You are ok! G.M. cars when the light goes on it either means bad or different gas has just been added, or you have driven through water, or the third thing is a exhaust problem. That is what it says in the owners manual!

chilly oil and occasional oil point the mild will come on a 2d or 2 longer on commence up that is common. If it comes on in case you're using feasible you have a foul oil stress sensor. For secure preventive upkeep i might replace the oil if it have been over 5 mo. I worst circumstances I incredibly have considered oil filters fail internally and could desire to clog issues up fantastically the chepo filters.

take it to autozone and they will run a code scan for you for free - tell you code # name of part from code and how much it will cost to buy it there but you do not have to buy it there - just an option - better to get it right the first time - as for as the type of gas you put in the only difference is the octane level. don't sweat it that's not the problem .
