no, not really. you're just that desensitized because of the news and all that you're not as sensitive anymore like those of us who don't know anybody affected but still cried about it, that's all....

It depends. You might just be desensitized to the hyper-emotionalism of the media, which would be understandable. Do you care when people you love are hurting? If you are incapable of empathizing at all, you have a real problem. But if you are just desensitized to media circuses, I wouldn't worry. The media often demands that we mourn for individuals we've never even heard of and newscasters pretend to be truly in mourning. In light of that falseness, it's natural to not want to conform.

No...I don't think so. Many people in this country are co-dependent, and become traumatized at the events that have no effect on their lives. Those are the people who should be concerned about their behavior. You didn't know any of those people...their deaths did not impact your life in any way...you lost nothing on Monday. Please don't create issues where they don't exist. You can feel sympathy for the families who lost loved ones and move on. I think more people would benefit from that, instead of sitting in front of the television and getting wrapped up in a grief that you do not logically share.

You are not cold and callous...please don't beat yourself up over that!

I think many people feel stunned
Denial is the first process people go through and then anger
then sadness and finally acceptance
So many awful things happen and we are exposed to them on a daily basis
i think w all become a little desensitised especially if we dont live near by
But what connects us is that we can empathise with people who knew these people and connect with the suffering

No you just have a cold heart, your unfeeling, you don't let yourself feel emotions because then you are supsceptable to being hurt. you are who you are, and you are the only one who decides your feelings. no one else can make the decision for you.. we decide if we want to cry, or not. if we want to feel the pain of others or not. you decided you didnt want to feel the emotional pain these people are going through. you don't have to. you didnt endure what they have to.
but,
if you were in their shoes., would you still feel nothing? if so, then I'd say you have a problem
