Depends on how old you are. If your high school age or under, try getting involved in your school first or summer camps.

If you're college age or older, google can be your best friend:) Just Google "Auditions in (insert city/state) area"

Most people trying to get started in the profession will use trade publications and websites to hunt down open calls.

Are you involved in any acting workshops or amateur productions? Sometimes word-of-mouth goes around in those places.

Some open calls will also appear in regular classified help-wanted ads.

I'm presuming you want open calls that earn you some points toward Equity membership? If so, your absolute best route might be to keep tabs on all of the professional companies in Boston (or whatever city you're in) and track their audition schedules yourself; ask them if they have open auditions, and if you can, volunteer to help them with productions even in a non-acting capacity.

Specifically, call the CommunityTheatre in your city. Ask if you can volunteer at the theatre.

Ask if they teach acting classes, or, can recommend acting teachers. Call the Drama Department of the theatres in your city and ask if they can recommend acting teachers.

Sometimes open calls are listed in the local newspapers.

im trying to start in acting and i live in MA too. its hard here. but what you should do is go online and look for casting and open calls. or start in acting classes and most of the time, they'll help you with everything you need to start. or do like i'm going to do. Move to LA
