Meaning of this dream?

Question

I had a dream that me, my family, and my friend steven were sitting my living room watching tv when there was a newsbreak. They told us that a meteor was heading towards earth and they knew that it was going to make impact somewhere on the surface.

We had to attend classes to learn to deal with a situation of this magnitude. After class me and my family, and a whole community of people I have never met before were gathered by a giant hill and discussed the impending disaster. While discussing I over heard that a meteor had hit somewhere 50 years earlier and the survivors of this thought they were the only people still left on earth, and renamed theirselves cause their speech was elimnated, and had to live of the land.

We stayed at the hill for 15 minutes before leaving to stock up on supplies. My mom drove, my brother got $200, and me and my dad smoked a cigarette. My cigarette turned all tar and got on everything.

Once we got home we turned on the tv and the news warned us

that if we heard the siren that we would have only a matter of minutes to prepare for the impact and we wouldn't be able to get help cause the communication and emergency systems would be down for an unknown length of time. It was about 5:00 pm and we heard the siren and that is when I woke up.

Sorry it is so long I wanted to make sure I got all the important details to help with interpreting this dream. Please help me discover its meaning.

Do you have an exam coming up or something? It sounds like you are just worried about preparing for some event that you know is coming up in your life, and you want to make sure that you are "covered on all sides". That's all. No big deal.

Sometimes we watch television and see things that have a great affect on our lives and the truth is that when we go to sleep, we tend to dream about them. The travel channel or I think it was Discovery the other night had a special on millions of meteors surrounding the earth's atmosphere and how close we came to impact in 2004. If you watched that series about a week ago, that might explain why you were dreaming about such an event.
Now something interesting in your dream led me to believe something else may be underlying because you mentioned something about you and your dad smoking a cigarette and it turning into tar and getting into everything. Something may be happening in your life that could affect everything you do. What can that be? Tar is bad. Tar damages things including your health. Perhaps your father might be sick and you all don't know it. May be cancer.

If you have read anything (ever) about such a scenario, it may be that one of your worst subconscience fears is coming out in your dreams.

If you have ever had premonitions at all, it could be that too. An asteroid big enough to worry scientists is due to pass by Earth too close for comfort in 2029 (I think), and again on return orbit in 2036, even closer. Some scientists are actually truly concerned and already in talks with NASA about it.
