I bought a handheld sewing machine a few days ago. Unfortunately the needle broke and I can't find a new one. I tried walmart, yahoo and ebay.
It needs a pt 14 DHXI.
Does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks, Sissy_0203

Hm... I bought a size 14 at walmart yesterday, but I guess I am doing something wrong, because I can not get it to fit. That is why I thought there might be a difference for handheld machines.
I tried to put it in, but it is too long.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Sewing needles have a flat side... are you lining it up properly. I've never used a handheld machine, what brand is it? Singer? Maybe you can contact the manufaturer if it did not come with instructions or they were not helpful. http://www.singerco.com

You may be moving the handheld too fast and this is what is causing the thread to pull out. These little gadgets make a chain-stitch, which is easily pulled out. Try a new needle and be sure it is inserted correctly. I have a Singer Sew-Quick that I purchased so I could repair an awning without taking it down, but have not used it for anything else. I recommend purchasing a sewing machine and ending the stress and hassle involved with this temperamental gadget. With a sewing machine you could now be admiring the great success of covering your couch cushions.

Size 14 is the commonest one, so you're all set.. It doesn't matter that it's handheld.
