Is it just me or was the one Tarantino directed (Deathproof) just a load of balls? Planet Terror was good - Rodriguez seems to have outdone Tarantino.

I'm just the opposite. I thought Planet Terror was OK but that Deathproof was awesome. I seem to be in the minority though.

Planet Terror. I liked Death Proof, but I think it suffered by being the second film in the showing. Planet Terror roared into action, and really didn't let up. Death Proof, on the other hand had to have two beginnings, because there were two sets of women to introduce. And while I enjoyed the film, having gone from the adrenaline of the first movie made it hard to get invested in the story. I certainly think Tarintino made the "smarter" movie, but I just loved how over the top Planet Terror was. Just like Kill Bill was so sensational in how it took the martial arts/revenge picture and blew it out of proportion, even past corniness and just to a new level of awesome excess....well, that's what Rodriguez did with Planet Terror. I couldn't stop laughing. At a time where every horror film that comes out claims to be the goriest thing under the sun, this movie actually had a few surprises for me, and I'm fairly jaded. It had the girls in our group looking like they were going to vomit. Now, I have to agree with one reviewer who thought that maybe Tarintino did a better job of actually making a Grindhouse picture.........everything he used could have actually been a part of that era, while Planet Terror needed modern magic for it's look. But forget authenticity...I'd rather have a tribute than the real thing when it looks this good. All in all though, it's the second best movie I've seen all year (Pan's Labyrinth), and it all rocked, from the "Prevues" to the end credits.

Deathproof to my surprise.

i thought any movie with a chick (i use that term only because it conveys the tone of the film) using a weapon as a leg would win me over. but i actually like the interplay of violence and characters in Deathproof more than just the violence of Planet Terror.

don't get me wrong, i loved them both and plan on getting the DVD. but Tarentino brought a little more to the table as far as i'm concerned. i especially liked the diner scene when the women spoke, the camera moved around them, and you saw Russell, first sitting at the counter in one rotation and then gone the next. creepy and cool.

Planet terror was great and soo campy just like the movies from back in the day. It was gross and gory. Death Proof was good also, But the action didn't come quick as planet terror but still worth the money.

Grindhouse isn't a action picture, watch "Deathproof " and then "Planet Terror".there's a trailer on the tip of "Deathproof" referred to as "Machette" which in 2010 replaced into released and is a action picture nicely worth watching. "Grindhouse" (a downtown action picture teach in disrepair on condition that its glory days as a action picture palace time-commemorated for "grinding out" non-supply up double-bill courses of B-movies)

I thought they were both great. Different stories and different ways of telling them makes for better movies. I didn't want to see more of the same type of movie in Tarantino's and I liked the dialogue in it and the *** kicking car chases. Rodriguez's was cool. Visually shocking, funny and so cool. I loved the cameos. The previews were so gross and funny. My fave was Machete.

I preferred Planet Terror!
While they're similar but different, Planet Terror seems to have been the better executed of the two.
