I wouldn't overthink it. It is what it is- an unhappy, unbalanced misfit trying to make a "statement" about his own personally perceived 'demons'. It is, unfortunately, that simple.

The frequency of senseless massacres in recent years has to be a symptom of something, but I haven't figured out what. Actually of course these massacres are not very frequent; but they are very much more frequent since 1990 than they were before.
The fact that they are usually some years apart makes it harder to figure out the societal significance. Clearly the individuals who do this are very exceptional.
My guess is, that this behavior will already be on the decline before we figure out why it increased so much.

Yes it is. The crisis is political correctness. Apparently this guy had a history of stalking females and it was well known that he was quite unbalanced yet no one did anything about it. Probably from fear of being called a racist or worse. Better to ignore the problem and then blame the guns he used after the killings.

absolutely. this is the second lockdown that occured at virginia tech IN ONE YEAR. if that doesn't scream crisis, then i dont know what does.
this kid obviously needed more than a few months at a mental institute. my question: why didn't he recieve all the help necessary when the students/faculty read his materials that proved that he was mental (characters were throwing hammers and chasing people around with chainsaws, students killing their teachers after being molested)?

It is due to the uncultured "Gun culture" that is prevailling in U.S.A.
This culture has taken too many tolls Like Lincon ,John Kennedy.,Martin Luther King(Jr) ,Robert Kennedy and many others.

Everybody wants answers. I think more and more we are becoming a society of wolves and sheep. The sheep seem to be convinced that people should behave more sheepishly to prevent more wolf attacks and I don't think that's the answer. Political correctness, gun laws, hypersensitivity will not stop wolves.
