I asked how stupid is it to claim Catholics are not Christians and got a violation notice. Does anyone else get violation notices without violating guidelines? Does anyonre else start violating guidelines intentionally as a result?

I am Catholic. I was responding to others claiming we are not Christians.

I've received violations for sincere questions, such as "What wisdom did you learn from your grandparents?" and "Do our paths cross for a reason or is this all happenstance?"

Hardly report worthy violations.

The most ridiculous violation occurred after I was awarded best answer to a question. I went to the comment box and thanked the asker for selecting my answer. I was nailed for point gaming on a resolved question.

They'll get you for anything.

People report for a whole bunch of reasons. But, you did use the word "stupid" in the question, which, as the previous poster did, people could read in the wrong context (you weren't slamming Catholics, but those who said Catholics aren't christians...)

Second, your "question" isn't really a question... it's sort of a rant. You're not asking for information; you're trying to make a point. Technically, that's a violation of guidelines (although in some categories almost all of these questions are phrased this way.)

Yahoo must have certain words that set off an alarm and therefore automatically send out violation notices. I doubt your question was even reviewed by a human at Yahoo to see if it violated certain codes.

Then maybe some people take themselves too seriously and are offended very easily.

I can't believe that. That scares me into not using this site if people are going to do frivolous reporting. I went to Catholic school and my dumb sister-in-law asked us what we did during Christmas break since we didn't have Christmas. I almost fell over laughing at how dumb that question was. She thought that Catholics were some odd religion that she claimed she knew nothing about.

Basically enough of the others on here reported you, and got your question booted, and you got your notice.

And you DID violate guidelines. Catholics might take a little offense to being asked if they actually believe in Christ (Christians), which is a slam on a religious sect.

From now on consider this part of the community guidelines. Although I would think it could be slanderous.

There's no rhyme or reason to the notices or to the questions blocked.
