what does reciept mean for text messaging on cingular phone?

I'm assuming that it means that the other person did receive your message and clicked off saying they received your message.

It is delivery confirmation, meaning the phone received the message. Some phones will also display whether or not it has been read.

you recieve a confirmation that the person you sent a text to has read it
