Does it surprise me that gun nuts are actually nuts? No.

Look at the idiots on here equating guns with cars, alcohol etc. That is what surprises me, that they are actually that stupid. Cars, alcohol etc are not meant as weapons, accidents happen. However, when a gun is picked up, it is picked up for one reason only, to hurt or kill. It has no other purpose morons.

How can you ask such a stupid question "Are you shocked to learn that mass murder is acceptable to a lot of gun owners?" Of course its not acceptable. Are you trying to convince people that gun owners are all killers ready to snap at any moment? None of those responses indicate that mass murder is acceptable. Only in your lib mind could you formulate that conclusion. We loose one right then others will follow next thing you know, anything can be banned by the government. What do you want, to recreate the book "1984" in the US? It already happened in England.

If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.

The person who commited this massacre was not a law abiding citizen, he does not care about gun laws and would have done this even if guns were banned. If you take guns away from citizens, then we are all sitting ducks.

Well, I'll tell you one thing, if there were much stricter gun laws, and this kid wasn't able to get a gun without having to go through very intense psychiatric screening,

I doubt he'd be able to take out that many people with a knife, or a bow and arrow, or a chain saw, etc. before he was subdued by other, stronger people ganging up on him.

Once someone has a gun, they have all the power, you could be shot in an instant from great distances...no matter how you try to protect yourself or others.

I think that the conservative pro gun person stating "well, then everyone should carry a gun!, look at how many lives could have been prevented", is utterly ridiculous. First of all, how do we know that YOU can be trusted?
So this is the wild west and there should be random and plentiful shootouts?
Someone who has a gun on them at all times is LOOKING for something to shoot after a while: ie many police forces.

I think Police should carry non-lethal weapons anyway,
they are not the effing judge, jury and punishment.

I can see the problem which is often stated about 'then only the criminals have the lethal weapons',
This is why they need to be rounded up and destroyed by the authorities whenever one is found.

Most gun and killing machine manufacturers are American...so it is also a business problem.

But I don't believe in hunting, I think it's a sick, sad sport for men with small weaners who have to prove their cruelty in their manly ignorance.
And they are NOT eating that crap, come now, billions of animals killed a year in slaughterhouses and you use that defense to justify your sick enjoyment of destroying creatures?

But I digress,
If anything we need very STRICT gun laws, so that not only convicted felons cannot legal obtain them,
but you have to go through a violence and phsychiatric screening, and then have a waiting period.
Too many people already have killing their spouse, or their co workers in mind right before going out and getting a gun from just about anywhere.
And too many kids commit suicide and use their father's gun.
They just shouldn't be so plentiful.

Look what happens when you stockpile and get a group of lots of people and families,

you end up with the government on your doorstep with weapons blazing, killing you and all your children,
like Waco. So where is the right to bear arms there?
The police shouldn't be using killing machines on the citizens and we shouldn't be using them on each other.

gun laws are important. and just because there are some nut jobs out there doesnt mean that other people shouldnt have their rights. its not that they think mass murder is acceptable, its that they dont want THEIR rights taken away. i mean, this whole thing has made me WANT to get a gun even more, to protect myself. there was a guy on the radio today, who was in prison, and he said that even in the most secure of environments, where they are watched and strip searched daily and have their cells checked, if there is someone out there that wants to die and take as many people with them as they want, they will do whats in their power to do so, and they will make a weapon if need be.
and its true. there is nothing that can be done to stop the few maniacs out there. you cannot make the whole country a police state. and taking away peoples right to own a gun will not change anything. if someone wants to hurt people, they will do what it takes to do it. if its not a gun, its a bomb. if its not a bomb is some other form of terror. you cant punish the entire country and take away their constitutional rights to try to stop a few random people.
just look at the oklahoma city bombing. thats two white dudes who drove their truck into a parking garage and blew it up. so does that mean we have to take away cars now to stop the maniacs who do stuff like that? or take away the fertilzer or whatever was made to make the bomb?

Lets get rid of cars, they kill people, if we all walked we wouldn't die as often. Don't knives, they kill too, gunpowder of course. Don't forget bows and arrows, axes, swords, maces, large rocks, small rocks in large numbers(the continuing pelting by small rocks will lead to death), airplanes, alcohol, cigaretts, fatty foods, lets limit the intake of carbs, rope(suicide), no buildings over 1 story(suicides again), all ravines and cliffs are illegal(more suicide, more people die by suicide a year than murder). Also all pesticides, and insecitsides, and other poisons.

Do you see my point, we can't protect everyone from everything, at what point do we stop? We need to keep our freedoms, and make laws tougher. If the penalties were much stricter for those found selling guns illegally, and those in possesion of illegal guns, and those in posession of legal guns while commiting crime, we would have less problems as the people would be in jail.

Mass murder can be commited by more than just a gun. A car can be driven into a group of people going 50+ MPH and kill as many as at Virgina Tech. Knives can also be used to perform mass murder. Kool-Aid has been used to commit mass murder.

You are focusing on the tool that was used to commit the crime and not the reason of the crime. Many of the people who commit mass murder are mentally disturbed however the liberals have disbanded mental hospitals because they don't want this people labeled as being mentally disturbed or mentally ill or just plain crazy.

So get off your high horse about gun control. Britian has implemented gun control and they have seen a 10% increase in violent crimes. States with conceal carry laws have seen a deline in violent crimes.

Well of course the answers shouldn't shock us. Will you admit that your right to own an automobile is more important then the 42,000 deaths a year caused by them? It is just plain stupid to remove our constitutional right to bear arms simply because a small few deside to obtain one (legally or illegally) and perform a horrific act with it. If you did ban them completely, then the only ones left with them would be those few who deside to commit those horrific acts. If you removed guns completely from the world, then those who wish to commit such acts would simply find another means to do so.

Mass murder is not acceptable to anyone especially gun
owners.

As a matter of fact, the murder of even a single person is not acceptable.

Are you shocked at the lack of law enforcement for laws already on the books? Are you shocked that after the 1986 immigration reform gave amnesty to 3 million illegal immigrants we now have 12-20 million illegal immigrants? If our laws were enforced, all of this could be avoided, including 9/11/01 because we would have known the whereabouts of the 19 illegal immigrants that attacked us and we would have had them in jail where they belonged or at least out of the country.

The only thing that stuns me is the failure of our government to enforce the laws that we already have on the books and their stupidity and gullibility in believing that more laws will solve the problems. Laws without enforcement are simply words on paper and are totally useless!

You could cure theft by outlawing property. Anyone want to do that?

It's not that we "accept" mass murder, it's that we know that gun laws cannot prevent it.
