Partial birth abortions account for less than 2 % of the total abortions that are performed in this country, and are only done in the instance of the mother's life being threatened, and the only choice is to abort. It is not something that can be performed at the request of the mother, for it is done when the pregnancy is over 24 weeks, which is illegal to do for personal reasons.
The entire debate of partial birth abortions is the way for the government to make the Christian Right happy, and for the pro-lifers to get those on the fence about abortion to swing to their side of the debate. It is meant to enrage people, when it hardly happens unless it is to save the life of the mother.
I am a mother. I could never imagine doing that to my baby, or even being in the situation of being pregnant for so long, and then having to make that choice. It is a horrible decision to make, and one that isn't made as a form of birth control, as a "regular" abortion may be done. To think that this will stop anything is very naive. Making abortion illegal isn't going to stop abortion - it will only deregulate it. And doing that will kill more than just the "unwanted pregnancies" - it will kill many young women as well. So much for that "pro life" movement. . .

There are limitations on abortions. The problem is, when do those limitations interfere with the right itself?
Was there a valid medical or scientific reason to ban this? No. There was a lot of emotional and political arguments made, but none that were medical in nature.
So, if there's a restriction without a valid reason, then it's just a restriction, and a restriction on the established right itself.
What this confirms is what most knew - that Roberts was lying and dodging the issue when he claimed he'd respect precedent on this issue. But as I said, I'm not surprised, and certainly I don't feel single issues should be used as a litmus test. I take more issue with his intentional deception to get the post.

Partial birth abortions should not be legal at all anywhere.
Stabbing a 4-7 month old baby in the back of the head is murder. I'm not a person who typically speaks in absolutes, however, in this case it is wrong and anyone who tries to defend it is an ignorant, cold hearted person. I have a son born at 6 months, at that point in a pregnancy that child is as much a person as you or myself. If not my son wouldn't be standing in front of me playing as I type this.

Abortion IS limited in this country. Very few people actually want all limitations to be removed. They may be very vocal but they don't represent a large segment of the population.
But, logically, I don't know how you can apply any limitations if it is legal.

You human beings are ill. 1000's of 1000's of human beings dying each and every 12 months through irresponsibility, and you call that determination. Many criticize Christianity and Christians for their classic perspectives, and declare that they seem to be a stumbling block for society; I ask, how can a society ever progression peacefully, with mass homicide interior the shadows? And its in comparison to if infant will become a a risk for the mummy, she would have the ability to no longer be stored. i've got faith its thoroughly immoral, and if there is something this president did top, this grew to become into it. Anyhoo, this does not sparkling up the mess he made in Iraq, so which you may desire to no longer be proud. he's merely killing much less lives.

I think perhaps you should look up what happens during a partial birth abortion before you make flippant comments. Pro choice or not some things are just beyond the pale.

Good. It never made sense to me that it is okay to kill a baby all the way up to and including birth.

I'm pissed off that Bush is too much of a right-to-life puzzy to allow stem cell research to continue further. I have family members that are dying and maybe could be helped if only it were allowed.
