To live is like to love--all reason is against it,
and all healthy instinct is for it.

Nihilists are the saddest bunch around. In their pseudo intellects they fall short of any real answers and throw in the towel, thinking that they speak for all of us.

Why is it unreasonable to love? For anyone that has a true heart and pure intent, love is the reason for living, the spark of human growth. Therefore, it is logical to be a loving creature, the potential of man. Is it instinct? No, I don't think so. Instinct is animal, requiring no thought or reflection. Not so of love. Real love requires the higher elements of man, less instinctive and more transcendental of pure material experience.

A nihilist doesn't care about your quote. He doesn't care about Samuel Butler. He doesn't care about YOU. All your pretty words are meaningless. Just as meaningless as everything else.

(Being depressed a lot makes it easy to channel my inner nihilist! Heh.)
