I think people should wear what they want.
I have, however, seen some women out there dressed in what look like "Teenager Costumes." I guess my question would be, are they really dressing this way because they are comfortable in those clothes? Or is it something else? Maybe an attempt to recapture lost youth? Failure to grow old gracefully?
Unfortunately there is so much pressure on women in our society NOT to grow old it's no wonder some turn to less than dignified attempts at retaining youth.

I vote for comfort.
I'm unsure about what "age appropriate" means; except for possible extremes (like micro minis and belly tops on anyone FIT over, say, 18? O.K. 24? Fit is as operative here as age!). This phrase is so subjective (like beauty being "in the eye of the beholder").
When I was younger, "older" women didn't wear their hair longer than touching their collar. I remember how I felt the first time I saw an older (possibly 50-ish) woman with waist-length white hair (she also had a 15 year younger man friend!); I was shocked (I'm now embarrassed to admit!).
Now I'm becoming an older woman, not very grey (yet!) but with long loose hair which I don't plan to ever cut shorter than mid-back (and I certainly won't be putting it up much). And you can bury me (and a bunch of my girlfriends) in blue jeans!
But I (grudgingly) accept that my mini and bikini days are long (looooong) over. And I bemoan the fact that many (inexpensive) clothing stores don't seem to have anything for women like me. It's either really young (great for my 19-year-old daughter) or really dowdy (even my 86-year-old mother wouldn't buy it!).

While I think that it is important for a woman to be comfortable in her clothes. It is also important for a woman to dress in something that makes her feel good about herself.
Sometimes you have to walk a fine line when choose clothing that is age appropriate, comfortable, and makes you feel good about yourself.
So yes I would say that wearing clothes that are age appropriate is important to me.

Wear whats comfortable but there are some exceptions.
Like you said some older women need to not wear teenage
kids clothes unless they can pull off the look.

My opinion is that to each there own -however nowadays women are trying to be the age they are not anymore-between platic surgery and all the skimpy clothes 50 + yr old women act and dress 18-sadly for all those women they are still getting older even though they do everything to fight it.

This is not really a gender question. It is a matter of how do you want people to percieve you. People will pass judgements based on little information. So wear and conduct your self the way you want people to percieve you. It should not be a surprize from the result.

If things arent showing that would make us all cringe (like an old lady in a thong bikini) then they should wear what they want. It is nice to have people that dress age appropriatley, but it wont always happen.

Yes and No. I think that you should wear what you feel comfortable in regardless of whether or not it's "in style" or not, I do think, however, that every woman should be covered in certain places and that should be with every age woman.

I agree. I have seen some people that could have looked decent that looked pretty trashy. Especially an old woman in a little bikini top with wrinkles hanging out everywhere and you see them with these young redneck guys. Ewww.

I believe anyone is free to wear what they want to wear, although a 70 year old should not wear a bikini lol
