If I were to try and put this simply ... we are what we do. We can talk all we want, we can say we are from this family or from that town, but the bottom line is, that we will know who we truly are, what is important to us and where we put our heart, mind and treasure, based on what we do.

Well I am a giving, caring, person.
If you will stop just stop with all your sensual pleasures, and start giving of yourself to people that really need attention, love, and warmth you will get so much pleasure, and thereby know who you are.
Until then, you are just going through the motions, of living and not getting any satisfaction out of life. Once you start doing what I suggested, you will start to know not only who you are, but who, and what you became. There is still hope for you, in knowing who you are. So don't fret. You are whatever effort you have put into life, to make your freinds, family, and the world a better place.

John B, I think you've answered best. We are what we do.
I read, and what I've read has shaped my thoughts and feelings and character and personality. I garden, and the plants and soil connect me to our planet and every human and creature on it. I've voted in every election since I was 21, served in the military and on a jury, groaned but paid my taxes since I was 18, and helped found, then chaired, a citizens' group that helped me understand how important citizenship is to the development and maintenance of the rule of law and government by the rule of law, instead of by partisanship.
I'm the daughter of my parents, who helped me understand that all adults are responsible for helping to raise and educate the next generation so it can raise the one that follows. I'm a wife, so I've learned about the possibilities of true unity with another human, and about the impossibility of ever being anything but myself. I'm the product of everything I've been taught, and learned on my own, and done, and dreamed, and regretted.
I'm no better than I should be, and will never be all I could be. But I like myself, most of the time, and have learned to accept that plenty of other people may not. I've made peace with a few of my shortcomings, resigned myself to a few more, and still struggle with all the rest. My political positions are both conservative and liberal, my religion is private, my sense of humor is intact, and I'm proud of my gray hairs because I've earned every one of them honestly.
Compared to an oak tree, a songbird, or a star, I'm pretty insignificant, but a few people love me, several people like me, and most people seem to trust me. I don't think I've ever harmed anyone, or done damage to my community or my country or the planet. Occasionally, I've been able to say or do something that helped someone else endure or grow, and if I died tomorrow, I think I'd be missed by my neighbors and friends and my few surviving relatives, and by my very dear husband. I have very few regrets, and look forward to however many tomorrows are left to me.
Who am I? Who are you? Who cares? Be happy, live well, and marvel at every sunrise.

You will always know who are are, but it could take an eternity to realize it. Do not ever feel that you failed to understand who you truly are. Giving up should never be an option. Not many people would actually be able to say that they know who they really are. People change from time to time. They're personalities can change. There is no secret. Continue to be who you are whether you realize it or not. Just doing what you feel is right and what you find pleasure in should help you figure out your identity. If you really still feel that who cannot live like this, talk to someone that you deeply trust or someone that you think can help you find your inner self. I'm sure many people would be happy to help you. Just remember, identity... is something that makes us feel alive.

My name is ellie. I am a 59 year old mother and gramma. It took me a life time of trial and errors to discover the real me. I lived by someone else's rules for so many years that I totally lost ME! I am a giver. It is God's purpose for me in life and I am truly gifted as a person. I like me and I like helping, nurturing and aiding others as well as taking care of me. My purpose in life has given me a contentment I have never known before. I don't expect anything in return...just let me give. Why did it take me a life time? Maybe my free-will got in my way. When I wobble on the path of life my God is there to set me on course once more.

I discovered that by astrally traveling, that is how you truly find out who you are. Take the physical barriers out of the way, and the true principle is as free as a thought can be, and as dynamic as the changing tides. As a man thinketh, so he is.
My body isn't all that important, but my soul and spirit is a real trouble maker, who speaks out against the things that cause others to be sad. My soul wants to learn, my heart wants to know, and I am by far so unperfect that I am likeable, forgivable, lovable, sometimes I'm mean, sometimes I'm scared, shallow, selfish, self-centered, and righteous. Other times, I am daring and I'm a chicket-chit. I am tough but fragile. I am small but big dreams cloud my mind. I am what I think I am, the power of positive thinking is key.

We are all the same -- children of our God. We are the result of all the individual experiences we have had here on this earth. You cannot define yourself by your name, your earthly relationships, your career etc. You have been put here on this earth for the same reason as the rest of us -- to serve mankind -- to leave the world a better place than you found it. If you are not doing anything with your life to serve mankind, you are not evolving spiritually and living your life as God intended. If you are living a life of temporary sensual pleasures, then you need to look outside yourself, see others less fortunate than yourself, share your wisdom or whatever gifts God has given you and help your fellow man. Then you will begin to feel fulfilled as a human being. Tis better to give than to receive!

What i am essentially is possibility... the possibility of creating myself and the world around me in any way i can imagine! I am not only my body, I am not simply "what i do.." nor am i just some free floating consciousness... Rather, to live in this physical plane on Earth, i MUST exist at ALL of these levels of existence SIMULTANEOUSLY..
The "things i do" are fleeting things in physical time and space which disappear as fast as they happen... also they are non-physical things which only i can feel, believe, etc...these non-physical experiences too disappear as fast as they happen... So they are not essentially "me" as i continue to exist after these things pass...
What these different levels of experience have in common, however, is that they are there for me, for my conciousness (at ALL levels simultaneously) to perceive in ways most appropriate for me...
In other words, i am ALWAYS at a jucture which allows me the possibilty to perceive, experience, believe, do, etc...
As long as i live i AM the manifestation of possible realities...
That is who i am...
Along with that discovery, i have discovered that the Universe (or God) LOVES me!! I am a beloved manifestation of possibile realities in constant flux...

Hi mohamed, I won't send you any of my religious beliefs because I have none, I don't believe there is a god for good or bad, I believe we make our own destiny and being good or bad is a personal choice.I choose and continue to choose to be a good person because I think if you make the effort it has a ripple effect and you pass that feeling on,theres so much pain and hurt already why add to it,also I would never ridicule someone for their beliefs, all are entitled to their view. jo
