Take 3 1/2 and make it into a improper fraction. This will make 7/2 ( 3*2+1 Makes 7 put it over the one). Take the seven divide by two. That goes 3 times. When you subtract, you should get one. A decimal point goes behind the seven and put a zero beside the decimal point. Bring down the zero, it will make ten. divide the 2 into the ten. it goes evenly 5. Your answer is 3.5.
You could just take the 1/2 and divide then you would get .5 then put it behind your 3 which would give you a 3.5

that's a lot of questions, what's with all the fraction to decimal conversions?....well, 3 is the whole part, so it is 3. something. Taking the fraction 1/2, that is literally 1 divided by 2. Do the arithmetic and get .5 Put it together and it is written 3.5
Do the same for every fraction thereafter.

the answer is 3.5 quick method , while the
longest method is
1. change it to improper fraction
3 1/2 = (3 x 2) + 1 / 2 = 6 + 1 / 2 = 7/2 =3.5
even longest method convert it to % then to decimal
2. 7 x 100 / 2 =700/2 = 350% then move decimal point
two times to the left =3.5

3.5 This is done by dividing 1 by 2. If you write this out you will get a 5 and you must put the decimal where it goes.
