I don't believe that it's a standard font type. Most teams, when creating logos, work off a standard font but create their own lettering so as to stand out.
There are a bunch of pages out there where people have "created" their own fonts to match those on the Sox unis, which makes me believe that what Boston uses isn't a standard truetype font.

It is called "MLB Tuscan" ...... Go here,

and click on Baseball link and it'll download the font files to yer puter, then all you have to do is install the "MLBTUSCA" file into yer Hard drives font folder and youll have the font available to use....
IF you dont know how to add fonts to yer hard drive... click on start, then run, and in the lil window type... %windir%\fonts
then click OK
A window with all the fonts you have on yer hardrive will open, then go to the Zipped folder you just downloaded from the link i gave you and open it, then drag the "MLBTUSCA" file into the window with all the other fonts and drop it in there... you have now installed the new font on yer hard drive, and when you do sumthing it will be available in the font drop down menu........Yer welcome.. From a YANKEE fan lol.

its gonna be some funky font we've never heard of its a pretty nice font though now that i think about it
