The top hose is usually the radiator inlet. The outlet hose can collapse from pump suction, especially if you have a clogged radiator, if you leave the spring out of it.

High quality lower radiator hoses for applications with clockwise flow cooling systems SHOULD have a long coil spring inside to keep the hose from collapsing when the water-pump is pulling coolant from the radiator and or the thermostat hasn't cracked open wide enough. New Mustangs have finally gotten on the bandwagon by using a reverse cooling system where by the water-pump pushes hot water through the LOWER radiator hose through the radiator and out the upper hose to the cylinder-heads.

Nope. But, the radiator cap will cause that. I'd recommend replacing the hose also, it is soft.

whats wrong is the cord,in the hose is broke,and it cant hold its shape.you need to change that hose.if you can find 1,its best to either get a ribbed hose or a hose with a spring in it.

replace the hose as it's shot and get a new radiator cap for it.
