first of all that's totally sexist
second of all that's totally wrong.
way back when woman weren't even allowed to play the piano or be actors or have lives... hello? it was up to men to keep those things up.
ever heard of bethoven? bach? classical composers, excellent musicians.
not that i'm saying women shouldn't do it now, i mean i do, but it seems to have shifted into the other extreme.
who cares what your friends say? some of the greatest people i know are musicans and more then half are guys.
besides that i think piano is the most valuable intruement you can learn. you get treble and bass cleft, you learn notes, cooridnation and timing.
Piano is a valuable skill, male or female, and everyone should take the time to learn that.

If your friends think the piano is only for females then remind them of a man that they might have heard of: MOZART.
He played the piano exceptionnely and let's not forget other great men such as Freddie Mercury who also was very gifted of that instrument.
So in conclusion I think that the piano is certainly not only a female instrument.
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY; JUST DO IT!!!

Right, because Mozart, Beethoven, and all the rest of the incredibly famous pianists and composers, were, in fact, female.
Seriously, your friends don't know what they are talking about. I guarantee you that if you are able to play piano, people will stop and listen and compliment you. It's a great thing to be able to do, and it really opens the mind to all sorts of new learning possibilities. Don't listen to idiots.

Piano isnt a female instrument. I would love to learn to play the piano in a kind of pop punk way and that is never girly.

No, Piano is for both genders. Remember Mozart (sorry if i mispelled it) He was one of the best piano players and he was a male. Also my brother and my cousin both play very good, So I would say its for both genders, also do what you like not just becuase someone thinks its feminine or not.

Look at Liberace', Elton John, Barry Manlow. ....well maybe your friends got a point! haha no just kidding. There are many males that play the piano, Billy Joel, Eddie Van Halen. So if you want to do it dont let them get in your way.

It sounds like you have an ignorant bunch of friends. If it is just for females, why are some of the best pianists are males? Ray Charles and John Lennon are two that come to mind (and they are not females or feminine-acting).

I don’t agree and it seems stupid to reduce an instrument to a gender issue.
I think a piano is for everybody who likes to play or listen to a piano.
