I have a new roomate. i told her several times not to use them, becuase we used them to use the toilet. She doesn't wanna wash the dishes without gloves becuase she could hurt her nails, so she went behind my back at night and washed the dishes with them. I was willing to wash them myself, which i have done a few times already, even though the deal was I cook and she clean. she agreed. I would rather do it myself than have her promise and not do it. I'm furious and i donno what to do. am i right to be angry? how sck will we get from this? she thinks clorox will fix everything, but i think it's overrated, esspecially for this. what should i do?

I should have added, I'm sorry, i was gonna buy her another pair, but i didn't get to the store yet. she's actually more mobile than me, and could have got some herself. also, she made fun saying i was a germ freak, as if there's something wrong with me for not wanting other people's feces in my food.

She is nasty! In addition, why can't you buy her another set of gloves, they are relatively cheap. Also, that is not very practical... not sure how unsanitary but I see how that could irritate you.

Try buying paper products as well, to limit the number of dishes you have.

Rarely. I should do, because I have skin that's particularly sensitive, especially to chemicals. But instead, over the years, I've cut out almost all chemicals and looked to different cleaners (esp microfibre cloths that don't need chemicals) and a bit of lateral thinking. For instance, in the bathroom I use a sponge with a soft scouring side to scrub out the basins daily, and microfribre cloth to dry the shower glass and tiles quickly (so it hardly ever needs cleaning), polish taps and basin etc (to avoid limescale), special brush for the lavatory bowl (so I don't touch anything), and thick sponge with a smidgeon of disinfectant for the loo seat, handle, etc. I occasionally use a very mild cream cleaner for which I don't always wear rubber gloves but if I do, then it's the ultra thin kind of "surgical" gloves like a second skin that you buy cheap in a box of 100 and then throw away so I don't even have to touch them again in any way e.g. hanging up to dry. For dishwashing I use a dishwasher as much as possible and do NOT pre-rinse the dishes or do anything to them first, just let the machine do its job (if it misses one thing, then that one thing can then be dealt with by hand, but no need to do the machine's job for it before loading!). In other words, instead of using gloves, I've tried to avoid the need. Plus I'm big on barrier cream, or vaseline-type ointment, and now that my hands are less sensitive after a few years of skipping the chemicals, I can go ahead and use what I want but then wash my hands in a special cream, non-soap, cleanser from the pharmacist, so instead of protecting my hands beforehand I'm making sure they're taken care of after.

Germ germ i wouldn't want to eat off dishes that were washed in that way,now is the time to go out and buy a box of rubber gloves for the room mate and make sure she uses the right pair for the toilet and the kitchen ,i keep mine seperate the toilet ones stay in the toilet the kitchen ones stay in the kitchen.

OK....well i definitely agree with the fact that the bathroom items should not be mixed with the kitchen items!!!!!!!! and people think i'm just to picky with situations like this! well the only thing i can tell u is to disinfect all ur dishes, silverware, cups and throw out the sponge she used along with the gloves, and buy different color gloves for the kitchen from the bathroom ones. and if this ever happens again- which it shouldn't- solve this problem with disposable plates and cutlery. hope my answer was of some help.

Buy a second, differnt-color pair of gloves. On them, write DISHES ONLY w/ a black Sharpie pen. Place them where she can easily find them under the sink.

On the toilet pair, write TOILET ONLY.

Go buy more gloves or start using all paper plates, cups, etc. Maybe you can make sure to get the dishes done first.

Buy a box of surgical gloves (it is what I always use) at the pharmacy...they can be thrown out after each use....you can clean the toilet with them, throw them out, no one can use them on something else. She can use them to wash dishes, then be thrown out...that way everyone can be happy.

OK, you just made me terribly sick to my stomach.
ugh!

This could make you very ill!

When you buy gloves, buy two different colors, one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom.

If this fails to keep the gloves in the proper places, I'd say cook and clean your own, and let her do for herself.

Pee in the sink and see how she responds. Or you can buy her a pair of gloves for the dishes.
