The second ammendment says we have the right to bear arms, so if you could have it your way, where would you draw the line as to what type of "arms" people have the right to bear. Would you let the public buy fully automatic guns, RPG's, mortars or rocket launchers? I mean this questions seriously, because I bet there are people out there who would really love to own a rocket launcher. I'm not trying to debate the right to bear arms here, just curious how far some people would like to go.

I'm not so certain how far the line should go. I do know that they have recently passed a law here in Nebraska that you can carry a concealed weapon on your person at all times and if a business does not want guns in their place of business (stores, banks, movie theaters, etc), they must place a sign in the window indicating so. I am not sure how comfortable I am knowing that EVERYONE could be carrying a handgun around. I wouldn't want some crazy person....or even someone who everyone thought was completely sane......toting around a fully automatic gun, etc!

However, in my house, we do have 5 guns. Rifles and shotguns because my husband likes to hunt. He would NEVER use these guns for anything but the purpose of hunting. (Yes, I am fully aware that many of you may be opposed to hunting, but before you go jumping down my throat, know that we---or at least my husband---eats every animal he shoots. It is all legal. He doesn't go out and shoot things just to shoot them.) They are kept in a gun safe. They are all unloaded at all times when in the house.

I don't think that eliminating all weapons would be the answer, but I think there need to be higher stipulations as to who is able to purchase a weapon. I just have a feeling that the people that are desperate to get a gun are going to get them anyway, by any means possible. I suppose, where there's a will, there's a way.

As far as I'm concerned we are over populated as hell and we need to be on mutually assured destruction with rival neighborhoods....

Everyone should be able to acquire any type of munitions regardless of destructive capability if they have something they really need it for.

If the world were seperated into war parties and alliances with no governing bodies or nuclear arms we would be in a more intense enviroment. Seems like it would be more fun than working 9-5

either that or go back to having feudal castles and battle medieval style

I'm down for either one... just make sure I get an invite

do carry a pistol, its our right to do so, never have killed a person or thing. If these half crazed people knew ahead time, that there was a chance that one of potential victims had a loaded gun, do you really think, he'd be as brazen as he was.
Know this is a touchy subject, but sick and perverted minds kill people. People knew months ago , this young man had troubles, but because of the privacy laws, nothing was done. My anger is we need to look at the whole picture of mental health issues, are we not controlled enough, pay not your property taxes, see how long you get to keep your house and land, or can't renew anything for your car unless you keep repaying the same usage tax every year. One last thing, gas stations that sell booze, should we charge them too with abating the drunk driver. Gray lines that are so hazy. We have to be accountable for our actions. What happened is tragic, my prayers are with all even the boys parents

Be careful about imposing restrictions...that makes it too easy to interpret things to be something else and attach "rider" policies. A good law for some is a loss of freedom to others...how many freedoms do we have to lose before we're lost.

There are restrictions on what you can and can't purchase legally.
