I have been using Murphey's. It is ok, but the floors don't seem to shine like they used to. I have read conflicting opinions on this, so I wanted to ask again.

I personally don't like Murphys oil soap, you almost have to dry and buff everything to get a shine, it leaves a film. I use white vinegar and water and it is a good old get down on your hands and knees job, put one cup of white vinegar in a five gallon bucket, I use a thin dishwashing sponge, wring out well and wipe floor down, you shouldn't be able to see any water streaks after wiping if you do dry with old towel. Apply a coat of Orange Glo for hardwood floors, also done by hand, this will leave a shine that will make your floor look brand new. I have hardwood floors in my kitchen, dinning area and hallway and always get compliments on how nice it looks. I do this about once a month or so, I run a dust mop over it daily......good luck, hope this works as well for you as it does me...

Pledge makes a wonderful product for wood floors..It is a little more expensive than Murphy's Oil Soap, but it works really well. It make take a few times to get all the residue off the floors though so just try a few times.

Do you have urethane on the floors as a sealant? If you do Murphy's leaves a residue. Use Orange Glo it does a lot better job.

You have to be careful not to make the floor too slippery.

Most urethane sealed floor look better just from a slightly damp mopping with clear water.

the recent product I merely used is termed the two "technique" or "timber for reliable" i'm no longer able to tell what the variety call is watching the label:( yet i think of the variety call is "technique" this is almond scented, lots nicer than pine. aim sells it, likely Walmart too. wiped clean all the winter airborne dirt and dust and pawprints from the hardwood floor honestly, purely a touch squirt in a bucket of water. maximum hardwood floor manufacturers recommend making use of no longer something yet tepid water and damp mopping. in the adventure that your floor is merely a touch dusty you may attempt the undemanding tepid water course...and the scratches will finally disappear with mopping by way of fact the clean timber absorbs the water. provides the floor character. in case you recommend an upright vaccum as a "prevalent vaccum" placed the rollers on the bare timber or linoleum placing and notice how that does. Use a humid rag to get under the tables and cabinets, or a minimum of around them. performed!
