A 40 corner is kinda tall and narrow isn't it? If it's the one I think it is I would say no more than 3-4 swordtails as they need a bit of swimming room. That does leave plenty of room for a few bottom fish and a top fish or two though. If swords were the only thing in the tank, I might go 5.

I extremely have a 36 nook. For the longest time I saved 5 fish in it plus some topswimmers. I cut up it down the middle with slabs of slate became upright, approximately 4-5 inches tall, and on the two aspects, I positioned a 4" terra cotta pot became on its section. Inhabiting the terra cotta pots have been 2 breeding pairs of convict cichlids. I additionally had a L-056 obese orange pleco interior the tank, and a college of 10 glass catfish on the precise layer. i attempted hatchetfish formerly, yet all of them dedicated suicide by skill of leaping out. The convicts could combat over the middle line day & evening and that they have got been a relentless source of action. they could in no way harm one yet another for real, yet they could drag java fern lower back & forth over the line enjoying tug of conflict, attempting to mark off territory. additionally they dug a super form of pits. you ought to point the gravel & that they had re-stack it in 2 days time how they observed extra healthful.

In all honesty,it IS true,though.

A fourty gallon corner, though? I'd say throw in about eight swordtails (two males and six females) and some corydoras catfish as bottom feeders.

If it's heavily planted, you can throw in even 4-5 pairs. But once they start breeding, make sure you don't keep too many babies there.
