I just saw a question on yahoo asking why witches worship Satan( we all know they don't) And just hearing it pisses me off.
How can a young 17yr witch educate not-so-open-minded-people, especially in high school, where iam constantly bullied for the stupid fact that i worship satan. Can you hate christians for being so cruel, but love God for his love and kindness. i kno god is too kind to allow this intolerance. And where did christians get the racist idea that Lucifer, the teenage italian sun god is satan.

3) I would suggest that you really test your beliefs. How do you KNOW these ideas about Lucifer? Examine the scriptures, REALLY examine them with an open mind, and I think you'll see the truth.

i would also like to ask. How would you kno? I read books of Italian Culture, the gods they worship before christianity

I also have another Question.... If we can't educate people about wicca, witchcraft, and paganism? How will we achieve religious tolerance? How will the pope Benedict II achieve this. He's doing it too and i truly support it

And to all witches, wiccans and pagans. I kno witchcraft and wicca isnt the same and i'm sorry for mixing it up, I tend to unintentionally do it

Not to be rude... or to offend Christians,

Not everything in the bible is true. The bible once said that blacks worship satan would you believe it. Some people need to look beyond the bible. research see the world, they are letting the bible make decisions for them, something they should be doing themselves, that goes for pagans as well, you should honor your paster minister, etc but not listen to everything they say and not let them make desicions for them. Some of you are followers of Christ, but that doesnt mean you can't be free thinkers.

mega mom
i am a christian and i believe i am more educated about your religion than you. it is funny to me that all pagan religions including satanism have alot in common when it comes down to it. their roots are the same and it goes against God.

Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
That means not directly that you shall not allow a living being to live.
And the one of ten commandments say "thou shalt not kill" Don't you think the bible is contradicting itself?
And i agree with megamom, satanist are pagans but Wicca and witchcraft are completely seperate religions. Yes, Wiccans and witches worship many gods, so did the greeks, romans, and native americans. we call those pagans almost all countries but certain parts of europe worship more than one god, except the jews. This was way before christianity started.
and belief in many gods is POLYTHEISTIC not pagan. pagan are any religions not connected to christianity judism and islam.

I'm sorry for offending anyone, but all the facts are based on 3 years of research, and i research alot. This is NOT in anyway based on religious beliefs.

You don't. Don't let it piss you off too much. Just laugh at them. Keep in mind that Christians follow the Bible selectively. They'll criticize Witchcraft, divination, Homosexuality, Harry Potter, liberal politicians, and any religion that isn't theirs, but do they truly follow the Bible? How many of these Christians eat pork? How many of them eat shellfish? And some of them might even have tattoos? Or interact with women during their "moon-time?" All of these things are against the Bible.

The best way is to show by example. Be subtle about your beliefs. They don't have to know what you are. Just be the best person you can be. Do the best you can in school, be kind to people, open the door for strangers. Do volunteer work. Tip your waitress, hair dresser, manicurist, massage therapist, etc., really really well, at least 20%. Be a good friend, good neighbor, good room mate. Do these things, and wear a small, unobtrusive Pentagram.

Here's how this will work -- you will be planting a seed. Someday, someone you encountered in passing will say, "I met this Wiccan girl once, and she was really nice. They must not be all that bad."

The hard-core Fundamentalist Christians you will never convince. Their whole religion is based on the idea that theirs is the only way to Heaven, and all others lead to Hell. They believe this because they were frightened into it, and they are determined to frighten others into it. Any opposing views, any questioning, is very threatening to them. You have to be wrong in order for them to be right, and if there's any possibility that you might be right, then it means that they were duped. They can't handle that.

And not all Christians are the controlling Fundies you've no doubt encountered. Some (like my mom for example) are actually quite nice. She eventually accepted the fact that I have different beliefs than she does. It took a while, patience, love, and open communication.

So, hopefully the people you care about will come around in time. As for the Christian jerks, ignore them.

1) Don't confuse "Christians" with followers of Christ. Lots of people are Christians...but few actually are true believers. After all, Christ said that if you love Him, you will obey Him. If people calling themselves "Christians" are expressing hatred towards you...then I doubt that they're really saved.

2) If they'll let you, tell others about what you do worship. Its a good thing to express your beliefs to others and to keep them from being ignorant. I had never heard of wicca when I was young, so I was suprised that a friend in high school was a wiccan (?). I asked her about it and she explained some things to me - thus, I understood the idea a little bit better.

3) I would suggest that you really test your beliefs. How do you KNOW these ideas about Lucifer? Examine the scriptures, REALLY examine them with an open mind, and I think you'll see the truth.

I studied witchcraft years ago, most people believe what they see in the movies, or read in books. A lot of wiccans pray to the Goddess Diana, the goddess of hunting and the God of hunting who was often depicted with antlers (horns), hence the devil. The fact that wiccans don't believe in the devil, it's a Judo-Christian concept, seems to escape them.
They seem to lump wiccans together with satanists, because they don't know any better. It's like, they call male witches warlocks, when male witches are just witches than are male.

When you speak to your friends explain that witches believe in Karma and everything comes back three fold, so why would you do evil. It's an earth religion, if anything it's similar to in some ways to Native American religions

Good reading - any books by Sybil Leek and Erica Jong's, Witches.

One last thing, please don't hate them, they know not what they speak.

Blessed Be

I'm a christian and I had wiccan friends once in highschool. They don't worhsip satan. Now, that's a christian who read too many story books or do too much research and overlooked important details. Every which is different, there are some witches that call upon demons to help with magic, but some don't do that as well. It's going to be hard to teach an ignorant christian. You can't change who people are. Only time will tell if they will get out of their ignorance or stay closed minded.

Use some smaller books that are informative and your favorites. But a lot of it is finding a friendly forum spot. For example a lady who was my friend had a new age healing store and she put an ad in the paper to invite the local ministers to discuss common themes in philosophy and religion. She also called up the main churches. I warned her that it could get ugly. A few responded, the loudest and most extreme and they told her that they knew who she was and that she was into the occult, ( even though she was a Christian ). It was like a scriptural assault by angry know it alls who knew nothing. So where and when is as important as anything. I suggest more receptive YWCA's or a community college education group where you don't have to join the college. Most colleges have them and they draw people of all ages and backgrounds. And your less likely to have screaming fanatical know-it-all's.

I'm not into wicca or witchcraft, but am a former christian. It was said that are into word worship, which is true but also many worship their pastor. I'm part American Indian and trying to learn the old ways of their panistic religion and have found that I had been following some of it all my life. Yes, I've been told that I'm going to hell because I walked away from them. My rebuke was, that I'd taught many of them what they know of the religion, because I had been their pastor that they worshiped.

you can be what ever you wish, and you can't make anyone believe anything their not willing too. christains really believe witches/wicca/pagan really worship satan and there fore preach about it. there is nothing you can do, even denying it wont change things they wont hear the truth until they are ready. you best course of action is just to smile and say "well everyone has their opinion" then walk away. sorry i can't be more help but i've been practacing wicca for 17 years and still to this day get told i'm recieving thoughts from the devil and just don't know it because he hides himself so well, or im a santan worshiper, or my personal favorite "your going to go to hell" there is nothing you can do about. its part of life dealing with others faults and prejedices. you job is not to let it change you in a negative way. and keep smiling. :)

In a word, they're ignorant.
Ignorance is a powerful thing if you want to control people so they'll behave, slavishly.
That's why the Christian churches encourage ignorance.

All you can do is not talk about your beliefs.
If the people who are bullying you are also 17, then there is little hope for them. Some may grow up enough to realise they've been lied to to and used, but most probably wont.

I'm sorry, but I don't think there's a lot you can do about Christains, they steal pieces from all other religions, call it their own, proclaim themselves the religion of love, then practice hate.

You'd get blood out of a stone before you'd get a christian to open their mind.

Did I say I don't like Christians?

I know that many people who claim to be christians have their mind closed up like a steal trap. But alas once in a while you can find a person who will sit down and listen to your beliefs and not condemn you for them then all they ask in return is for you to listen to their beliefs. I believe that a true christian is a person who offers to share god with you but does not try to force god down your throat. You have a thing that is called free will which is about the greatest gift ever given just ask any christian about free will and how they feel about judging people if you want to have a good discussion. You will find it interesting, but before you do this be sure to have all your ducks in a row.

Unfortunatley we can't educate those who don't want to listen. Many of those who are comfortable believeing that we witches and wiccans believe in the Devil won't be so easily pursuaded to think otherwise. Just like we wouldn't be so easily pursuaded to think Jesus is God (unless you do). Even though we would like things to change, we have to tolerate the ignorant, and try to educate those who WILL listen. There are open minded people who are willing to learn about wicca and witchcraft without converting (for lack of a better word). Just continue doing what you are doing and don't listen to those who wish to remain uneducated. You where your beliefs lie, and never let anyone let you forget it.
