It is such an eye sore to go outside on a beautiful sunny day, just to see a pile of garbage burning in the yard next to mine. He doesn't even put it in a barrel or anything, just right on the ground. The grass is dead and there are ashes all around. This is a beautiful neighborhood around here except the big black burnt pile of garbage right off the road (when it's not on fire). This aggrivates me so bad. Not only does it look bad but think of how it's affecting the enviroment. Please, if there is any law or regulations or anything, please let me know?

You can find out by calling your city hall. Or call your fire department. They will be able to tell you what you need to know. Here, we can burn anytime, but not garbage. It can only be lawn debris and it has to be within a certain distance from the nearest building and not when its windy. Plus we have to call the fire department and leave an address and tell them we will be burning. So, if you can catch your neighbor breaking a rule, you will have something to work with. Plus, in my town you can actually make someone paint a building that is ugly or tear down a shed for example if its an eyesore because it affects everyone else's property values. And I live in a hillbilly town. Yours may very well have a similar ordinance or rule which could give you something to work with even though its not a building, its still unsightly with garbage everywhere.

If you live inside the limits of a City or Municipality you should check with the local code enforcement office. Our city does not even allow you to burn leaves, much less household garbage. The local Health Dept. might get involved depending on the type of debris being burned. Also your local fire dept. will have regulations on open burning without permit or proper measures to ensure safety of neighboring property.

Well it depends on where you live. Do you live in the city limits or in the township. Most city's have laws against such things but if you live in the township they usually allow burning of trash or just open fires in general. You can just call the local Sheriff's office and ask them you won't have to give them your name or anything if that bothers you ,but they will be able to tell you. Had a similar problem but with the neighbor shooting guns but can't do anything as long as he has a mound of dirt to catch the rounds fired. wasn't happy Good Luck

You need to contact the local authority's to see what the laws are where you live. Here in my city it is illegal to burn anything. If you try it and someone calls the police and they come, they make you put it out and fine you $50.

You have to check your local bylaws. You haven't said where you live. I live in a big city and the bylaws are very strict on burning anything. You can only find out by checking your local jurisdiction.

Call your City Hall to find out for sure. We have laws in our city against burning trash, leaves, branches, anything.

Depends on the county..most rural counties let you burn vegetation with a permit and permission..but burning household trash may be illegal...it's legal to burn vegetation here but not garbage.
You may want to contact the county fir dept. for more info.

It all depends upon where you live.

I'd call the local fire dept. and ask them; they'll know about setting fires, and if illegal, would love to know when/where the fires occur.
