I have garage sales from time to time and invariable an antique dealer or collector will stop. They usually ask for things that aren't out for sale like old camera equipment, china with flowers on it or furniture. Then I knock myself out lugging the stuff out from the house only to be told "Oh, that isn't what I'm really looking for." Why don't they be specific, then? Like old Polaroid cameras before 1912 or china marked Limoges? Then I could tell them right away if I had it or not.

Wake up! They are looking to get what they want super cheap and they aren't going to let you know if you have anything of value. Also, don't be stupid. Thieves also go to garage sales and are casing the homes. If you bring out something they want, they'll simply break in and steal it. Additionally, thieves also do this to get your attention from your garage sale and this allows their partners or others to steal from you. Keep your information to yourself. If people ask you questions about items, give them a piece of paper and a pen and ask them to write you a list and give you their phone number or card. Tell them that you will go over the list when you have a little more time and you can call them to make an appointment to view the items so you can give them your undivided attention. If they won't do this, it is probably better for you because they might not be legit.

A lot of times they are just trying to "ping' your memory. When they say old camera you may think of more than Poloroids. If they said "Polaroids" that's all you think of.

Additionally, by using a generic name, they give the other person a wide range. This way they can see whatever it is you have to sell. You can respond "Yeah, I hvae a camera. It's an AE1-Program, a few years old. If you're REALLY interested, I can go get it, but I really hate dragging it out for looky loos."

you do not "deal" with an public sale domicile... You the two dedicate to an public sale or do not. not plenty you're able to do yet pray as quickly as the gavel hits the stand... there's a set value frequently... that's spoke of as a clientele or sellers top rate. that's everywhere from 10% as much as 30% finding on the form of sale and the form of people attending.... advertising your products at public sale is very iffy and whether they are valued by potential of a useful appraisal provider in the previous hand... meaning actual not something at public sale... some thing is frequently basically worth in the tip... What somebody is prepared to pay for it. that's neither the auctioneer's fault or the residences fault whilst issues do not sell. the only thank you to look after your self is to place a smart reserve on it. yet then if it does not sell...you're nonetheless responsible for the fee.
