Go back to Christian schools where children are
taught respect, honor, esteem, honesty, caring, and
consideration for others. There's absolutely too much
violence for kids to emulate (tv, videos, games, movies).

Become more involved with our childrens activities.
Stop abusing (physically/mentally/sexually) our children.
Teach our children tolerance and how to properly deal with anger.
Insure our children understand that the television shows and movies depicting violence are fiction and that the malicious violence seen on television is for entertainment only! Additionally, that television and movies are nothing more than money in the pockets of the producers therefore shows like Mister Rogers Neighborhood don't reap the same cash flow as those like the series with major blood letting.
Teach our children that reporting suspicious activities is NOT being a "snitch" but appropriate mature behavior that may prevent tragedies such as seen at VA Tech.
This would only be the tip of the iceburg as far as recommendations go!
Best wishes.

Oh yes, and to do it would but less stress on the parents to..
Go back to uniforms for the kids, and make them all equal to each other.. No cell phones, no computers hooked up to the internet and no chewing gum in class..
Oh and a large paddle like the ones we had when I was in jr. high would work really well.. Lock the doors so the parents can't get in to start war with the school personal, for smacking thier smart wonderful babyyyyyyy.. yeah yeah yeah I know and most likely why I don't go out seeking to break laws.. I was disapplined and given the rules to follow and if I didn't, I would be punished.. Period..

The warning signs were there with this guy, in his attitudes and his writing. The school either missed it or chose to ignore it or not treat it as seriously as it should have been treated.
People send their children to these schools, paying a ton of money for it, and expect their children to get a quality education and be safe while getting it. Virginia Tech let a potentially dangerous situation fester; this guy didn't just one day decide that he was off his rocker and go buy a gun and blow a bunch of people away.

Stop smothering and overprotecting children. This only leads them to be incapable of dealing with setbacks and bad times. It also perpetuates their infancy when you don't start making them personally responsible for their actions, when you excuse their behavior, or when you don't let them resolve their own disputes.
As for violence in schools, it cannot be stopped. Violence is part and parcel of human nature. And I've seen no evidence that human nature has rejected violence. IMO, it's better to teach children to defend themselves and to defend others who are weaker than them.

well we need to give the kids a solid foundation which tells them right from wrong man kind is not as smart as they think they are the bible says you reap what you so if you put bad thoughts in youre mind like the movie makers and tv shows make its gonna come out. Theres no acountability for the youth they dont wana work they have no manners And they have no purpose which is sad were ment so serve god and others The youth is killing themselves because they have no puurpose. And theres not enough good examples anymore if you see something over and over and over again you will have thoughts of doing it. And the parents are selfish we need beter parenting please pray for the youth ttyl

i suggest a combined effort from everybody
parents could spend more family time, no matter how old the children are
schools could promote more moral and virtue-based activities like sports and art events as well as charity and masses
local and federal government could support these school programs as well as launch some of their own
the less time in front of the tv the better
it doesnt even have to be something grand, it starts with small things in everyday life

Pray for those in authority. And vote out the losers.
Reach out to the so called misfits of society and embrace them with acceptance and love, not approve of their beliefs exactly, but simply love more.
Pay our teachers more and don't give Hollywood any money at all..
Hollywood will answer to God for all the filth and violence and evil it constantly puts on tv and the movies to make money.
At home teach kids to love and respect others, not for their wrong beliefs, but simply because they are human and need love like we all do.
Start clubs in schools especially designed to reach out to anyone who feels unloved and unwanted.
Let the rich kids and the arrogant kids know that they will answer to God for their arrogance and pride and that they are no better than anyone else.
In a word, LOVE others and show it!

i work at a college and the kids bring in beer and girl/boy friends all the time.. one kid got a motorcycle into his room.. so a gun should be easy.. its as big as a beer can. unless we go to total lockdown like in the airports nothing is going to stop anyone from doing what they want...we just have to let everyone know that we are all responsible for our own safety.. if we see something tell someone, if you know something tell someone....yeah its like being a rat but if someone wasa rat in Virginia.. 32 people may have been alive today.

The Government should ban the Guns.
I think, self-protect by using guns will do rob the life of others!
