The shooter.

The shooter himself is responsible, but, somehow it seems way to easy to blame just him. I know that it is hard for a teacher to report like they did, but, they need to follow up to make sure that something was being done. The laws are hard to use against a person on this. It usually says you have to wait until a law is broken before you act. It would be nice to know if the school reported to the parents about this strange behavior. maybe they could have reacted to the situation before it got this bad. I do not blame the school for how they reacted to the two incidents on that day. They thought they had the right guy when the second incident occurred.
Sometimes there is nothing that can be done but learn from it. You cannot blame gun control since the University has a no gun law any how.
Please know that all people in this country pray for a quick recovery to all that were touched by this tragedy. May your minds and bodies heal quickly.

Why does everyone try and blame others for what others do????

This guy obviously went off the deep end and did what he did.
Nobody had a vision about it. Nobody got a call from an informant.
As sad as it is. IT JUST HAPPENED.......

Trying to hold others responsible for someones actions is rediculous. Unless we become like a marxist state and "arrest and convict on assumptions".

Next thing we'll hear is more gun control advocates screaming, "see we told you so".

No gun has ever just jumped up and started shooting people. Somebody is always pulling the trigger. People kill people. Whatever their choice of weapon is whether it's a gun, a knife or a chainsaw doesn't matter. They kill if used for that intention.

So to answer your question.

It's the shooters fault.

It is tragic. Yes, we should all take a time out and think. Pray.
There are too many factors to blame one entity or individual in my opinion. I'm annoyed at Legislator's that did nothing after Columbine and now show up for the hoorah? The NRA and those people who sell guns so casually. The gun shop Cho went to had 5 homicides reported that involved weapons from that store. One is too many. Too little, too late for the dead and wounded. It's not unusual for a Korean person to be shy and reserved. I have a relative from So. Korea. The parents just didn't know the scope of the problems he faced inside his mind?
It's so very sad. I strongly hope that if anything comes out of this alot of systems in place will be reviewed. WE owe it to the fallen to take action, not just words.

You know that's a good question.I don't know what makes people snap.I have a lot of kids and grandkids and they are all different yet raised the same way.I can't blame anyone in particular. The only ones I do hold a little blame for is Virginia. Why would they allow a non citizen {green cards don't qualify as citizenship}to purchase a weapon?Especially nowadays?Maybe some of you think I'm wrong but this is how I feel.

First and foremost the gun man, next the system that armed him. Clinton banned automatic weapons when he was President. The buying of a weapon with a green card is another situation that needs to be addressed with the War on Terror, and last but least the buying of a second weapon a month later with the same green card. Ammunition and 15 round clips might be a concern to the public too. From what I was hearing on CNN Nancy Pelosi took the lead on this Green Card problem and made that illegal this morning, something George Bush and his ex-cabinet failed to do with their 14 year run. Have a nice day.

30 of the 32 victims would be alive today if the police had done their job and warned the student body that there was a murderer loose. This could have been achieved in the two-hour window between shootings.

Quit with the second guessing.

Primary responsibility rests with the deranged shooter...all other discussions are minuscule in their contributions to responsibility.

Jenny is Hot, but she is smart? NOT! The shooter did not *HAVE* any automatic weapons...sheesh...

The school bears some responsibility here. Given what is being revealed about the mental picture of this guy, his writings and such, someone at VPI should have stepped in beyond just suggesting he get counseling. If his writings were that disturbing, his professors should have gone well beyond just noting that his writings were "disturbing," especially as the guy was a senior, so a pattern of behavior would have been established.

And the handling of the separate incidents on the day of the shooting was deplorable. The guy shoots 2 people in a residence hall and nothing happens for 2 hours? And then we send an E-mail out?

Sorry, but if I'm a parent of one of the slain kids, besides going out of my mind right now, I'm looking at the school as partially culpable in all of this. The signs were there and they ignored them.

How about the lunatic who did it? Wouldn't it be a novel idea to actually put the blame where it belongs instead of trying to find some outside source!!!
