It's been at least 5 years. It a good thing that I have a cell phone because the pay phones suck, I have always been to one that didn't work.

Surprisingly, just a few months ago. I walk out of my house w/o my cell and really needed to get in touch with my husband so I used this pay phone in front of a grocery store. I felt like I needed a shower after using it! I never realized how disgusting they are!

This morning LOL... my phone went flat during a call and had to ring them from a pay phone coz it was a rather important call...
I'd kinda forgot how gross they were. The one I used today had gum stuck in the change part

The last time I tried, I went to buy a cell phone also because the payphones either don't work, are very dirty (full of germs) and I never have spare change in my pockets!
Good question!

um.
I think it was 1998. I was in Colorado and lost.
The downfall of the payphone is that 10cent raise. A quarter was so easy. Oh, yeah, and cell phones.
