Eric,
Your questions really make me think and feel.
Sometimes this is not a good thing!
While I admire and respect anyone willing to train, leave their homes to fight in foreign lands and possibly die for their country; their leader, their countrymen and the right to enjoy a better life - it appals and sickens me to the very core that it happens at all!
All through mankind's history (young) men and women have died and what have we learnt ?
We are still sending these people to die!
See what I mean about your questions Eric?

I have the utmost respect for our soldiers and our veterans. My Dad spent 25 years in the Air Force, my Father in law spent 26 years in the Army and I spent 4 years in the Air Force. I am proud of my service to my country and would still be in if I hadn't gotten injured. These men and women are willing to give their lives to fight for our country and keep us safe and protect our freedoms. We should all thank them and respect their dedication to our country.

In all honest thinking, I totally RESPECT people who have served our country that way because not only are they they ones who protect our rights and our freedoms, but they risk their own lives doing it while some at home cannot even summon the courage that they have.
Ive always wanted to be in the Air Force, not only because of the great duty that such perform, but because their planes soar so high in the sky, like this song im playing for band, they fly higher and higher "Where never lark or eagle flew". although Im a bit queasy at such high altitudes, Ive never experienced such freedom, especially evident in flight and would like to become an air force pilot one day if my parents let me.
Hope this helped you some!

While living in New Mexico (an Air Force town) I met and went to school with lots of Military personnel and families. I found many close and sincere friends that I'm still in contact with today. They are, for the most part, wonderful people.

Hi there eric yes they have my respect. War is not something people do for fun that's for sure. They deserve respect as they are out there dealing with the worse aspects regarding human kind. I do not respect the soldiers though who are at war so as they can oppress their people.I am all about freedom and what it has to offer :-)

Being an Army veteran of the Vietnam war I tend to like most of them...although too many fall in step with w on the war...yet he's cut veterans funding and benefits more than any other president...explain that....I certainly can't

I'd expect someone from the military (say for a date or marriage or member of my family) to have high standards, to expect a lot and give a lot, to be neat and clean, on time, etc. and I'd respect them.

I totally respect the fact they have served bravely and proudly in order to preserve our freedom, as well as all branches of the US Military, and I endow the US Vets orgs with as much money as I can afford to send every year...

My grandfather was in WW1. One uncle was in WW2. My father was in Korea. 2 uncles were in Vietnam. I was in the first Gulf War and Iraq. My grandfather has passed away, other than that there are some interesting stories around the campfire. I consider myself lucky.
