The HIV rate in the heterosexual community is rising from several different sources. One source is sexual promiscuity, whether you are male or female and you have sex with many partners you run the risk of becoming infected. One of your contacts may have had an encounter with someone that was infected and passed it along. It is not a matter of who you have sex with it is a combination of all the people that person had contact with and all the people they had contact with and so on. Then there is the blood supply for years it was not tested for the HIV virus, we did not have the knowledge about the disease that we do now. We now know that the virus can remain dormant for years before it becomes active. There is no magic bullet anyone could be infected with the disease if they were exposed to it.

It is hard to believe in this day & age there are still people who don't know the simple HIV facts...
ANYONE can get HIV! Any race, creed, color, or sexual orientation. NO ONE is immune, magically or otherwise.
There is NO CURE and it is fatal. The only sure way to stay HIV free is to:
#1.Abstain from sex untill both you and your partner decide on a committed, monogoumus relationship, then BOTH GET TESTED FIRST (yes, even you virgins) Even then don't trust your life to a yes answer DEMAND to SEE & AND BE WILLING to SHOW PROOF. Best get tested together!
#2. DO NOT share ANY needles, diabetic testing supplies,IV drugs,etc... make sure you see them get a new needle for any blood tests or shots you are given.
#3. DO NOT share toothbrushes, razors or anything that may come into contact with blood.
IT'S YOUR LIFE KEEP IT SAFE &GOD BLESS

Well, they certainly seem to think that they are immune. They are not. Look at what's happening in Africa and Asia...I don't know why american heterosexuals choose to be so blind when it comes to their own mortality. I also think a lot of them think that it is a controllable disease..which it is to a large extent...but they've never even imagined the side effects of the medications alone.
Amanda Blake..from 'gunsmoke' didn't die from getting aids from another woman.

It amazes me that people still ask this question. HIV/AIDS is not and never was nor never will be a homosexual disease. The disease is spreading through the population no matter what your sexual preference is.The only reason it became known as a gay disease is because health organizations and religious fanatics pointed fingers in that direction when it was first diagnosed in main stream society. If they had of looked at it as a blood borne disease in humans weather gay or straight, it may not have spread to epidemic proportions. The disease rates in heteros is fast increasing because of pure stupidity. The rates of all STD's are increasing at an alarming rates because of pure ignorance and outright stupidity and has absolutely nothing to do with orientation, but sexual behaviour. Not to mention IV drug use and all the other means of transmission, e.g.-improper sterilization of blood handling equipment;transfusions etc;etc. NO ONE IS IMMUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no, they aren't, but why take my word for it?
why not ask the 100 or so heterosexual men that all got HIV from a woman in russia within the space of a year, i'm sure they'll tell you.
the woman is currently on-charge for attempted man-slaughter or something.
"From 2000 to 2005, the estimated number of new AIDS cases increased in all racial/ethnic groups. Over the same period, the estimated number of new AIDS diagnoses increased by 17% among women and by 16% among men. The number of new cases probably due to heterosexual contact grew by 42%; cases probably due to sex between men grew by 24%"
http://www.avert.org/statsum.htm
looks like the growth rate of heterosexual contact cause-HIV is close to double that of between men contact.
also, you fail to note that only 77% of HIV sufferers are men according to that study, so you're fiddling with the statistics, probably without realising it, and you're slanting the survey to start with by only taking a certain population, like only us people, it's called biasing the results, look at surveys which estiate the world population, not one part of the world.
even though it's been proven that the cause of the disease is sharing multiple partners, and through contact with other peoples bodily fluids, like dirty needles etc.
and ontop of that, it's also been proven that aids is spreading acrost heterosexual partners far more quickly than homosexual people.
why is it that people assume it has something to do with orientation, when the only cause is contact with an infected person's bodily fluid (be it blood or otherwise).
http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/art...
note the article says nothing about orientation? because it doesn't matter.
http://www.gmhp.demon.co.uk/health/hiv/h...
take note at the bottom of 1994, and the top of 2000
if its a homosexual disease, then why are 50% average of HIV positive people women?
can't find a link to the story, but there's been a trial of a russian women who infected 100 males within a year with HIV, its about unsafe sex, not orientation, monogamy is the only real way to prevent it.
http://www.condomessentialwear.co.uk/inf...
again, nothing about orientation.
HIV has nothing to do with orientation, its about safe sex and having too many partners, thats why it spreads as easily amongst homosexuals, and heterosexuals alike, and as gays are a minority, its natural that it's spreading faster in heteros(more people = more cases of spreading = more infected etc, nothing to do with sexuality).

No, that's probably why heterosexuals are getting it faster, also. It's all in how it is able to be contracted: Sharing needles from drugs, Tainted blood transfusions, and sex if the person with AIDS has a cut or lesion on their body and the person that they are having sex with has a cut and the blood gets mixed. It's a blood to blood contact disease, not sexually orientated disease. I wish people would stop blaming and start practicing safe sex or better yet, abstinence.

Not only no but HELL NO! HIV is a retrovirus - it couldn't care less if you are straight or gay or whatever. Anyone who says AIDS is a "gay disease" is living in the past. AIDS is carried predominantly by heterosexual WOMEN in Africa.
Excellent question! Keep socking it to the ignorant!

No, you're not wrong.
The terrible thing is that a lot of hard-core christians consider HIV/AIDS the "cure" for homosexuality.
How cruel can a people be? HIV/AIDS infects just as many (if not more) heterosexual people..... what is it called when they get it if it's a "cure" for homosexuals?
Those people are sick in the head!!!
