Hi all;
I live out of USA now, but in 2 or 3 months I’ll immigrate there (Georgia-Atlanta), Information which I have it is that it's very difficult to reconcile the daily expenditure and the wages which turn around of 10USD/hour, how do you make?
I mean by reconciliation: To have a car, a house, Kids, daily food and so on, and all with this wage.
Working hard, is it sufficient?

$10/hr USD isn't going to cut it in an American economy. For a family of 3, this is well below the federal poverty guidelines.

A used car will cost, probably, $200 per month ($300 including insurance). A small house will include a monthly mortgage payment of about $600 ($800 including property taxes, insurances, etc.). Monthly groceries and eating for a family of 3 (I have one) runs us about $400 to $500. In addition, you will have electricity, water, possibly heating, and telephone bills to run up to around $250 in total.

Car, Insurance: $300
Gas for the Car: $150
House: $800
Food: $400
Bills: $250

Total expenses = $1,900 (easy)

Then there's health insurance costs and other expenses (you're not going to just want to sit at home all day) so you're looking at about $300 per month per family for decent health insurance coverage (before taxes). It comes down to this:

$10/hr = $400 per week = $1700 per month (about).
$1700 - $300 (insurance) = $1400 per month Gross
Tax liability runs about 22% (estimated, varies)
Net pay = $1,092 per month.

That puts you about $800 per month "in the hole" and these numbers aren't even all inclusive.

Then, there's emergencies. Your house roof springs a leak and needs to be repaired ($7,500). Your car needs a new transmission ($2,000). You need a new hot water heater ($300). Your community passes a tax levy ($50 per month). Your kid gets sick and your health insurances has a $500 deductable ($500).

I have a family of 3 on a single income. I can tell you that it's hard even making $50,000 per year or more. In reality, our family spends about $3,000 per month in expenses. The city we live in (Columbus, Ohio) has a very "average" cost of living.

You *might* be able to rent an apartment (not buy a house), use public transportation (not buy a car) and eat very meager meals. But it's really going to be very very very hard on that budget.

The cost of living index would preclude the items you mention above. $10 an hour is above minimum wage, but would not allow for a house mortgage, car payment, kids (plural?) and food. If you got such a job, and could be guaranteed a LOT Of overtime, then you'd get close, but you would STILL need more income for the above.

it really depends on the city.....each city is different and has extremely different standards of living....like where i live it costs almost twice as much to live at than the next city. you should go to www.remax.com, search for homes around the area (be very specific, like the street) you are going to live in and they will provide schooling information (national percentile), how much homes sell for in the area, average education of residents in the area, etc. it should give you a good idea of the expenses you should expect. for example, if you live in a highly nationally ranked area in regards to education, or homes sell for a lot, then $10 an hour is not good enough to support your family and living expenses.

No, $10 per hour will not allow you to have the things you mention above. Sorry.
