i do it all the time and love a really good debate. If I feel I'm in a losing position which isn't very often I just say "well lets just agree to disagree, you've got your point of view and I've got mine" they normally agree and by doing so i still win!

as a matter of fact by begging to differ you are already being more polite than half of the community i think if you beg to differ that is the most unrude way to disagree with somebody

You can beg for money in shopping centres if you want to differ.

every day. I dont go on and on and keep anything stirred up, but i state my case and if they continue to try to stir up the issue, i just politely say, apparently we dont see eye to eye, and ive had my say so im not discussing it any further

Yes. You can acknowlegde their point of view without agreeing with it. You can also state your own without trying to diminish their views.
